Adding a wallpaper mural to our bedroom
Since we’ve moved in, we’ve slowly been getting used to the space and working out how we use it and what we want. I feel like I’ve been much braver with colour than I’ve ever been before (and that’s a lot to do with having a partner whose default answer to anything I suggest is ‘yes, why not?!’). I’ve been keen to embrace some deeper colours and we initially painted our north west facing bedroom in Farrow and Ball’s Inchyra Blue (interestingly on the website they describe it as a ‘aged blue grey’). I’ve loved it, and it’s created a cosy, cocooning space that’s perfect for a bedroom, but for a while now I’ve been thinking about adding a wallpaper mural to our bedroom wall - I’ve been pinning a ton on my Pinterest boards).
I’d pinned a couple of gorgeous pine forests (plus an incredible octopus that I’d originally set my heart on), but really wanted it to feel like there was a huge picture window looking out onto a dreamy, restful view. I eventually chose the ‘Misty Trees mural | I Love Wallpaper‘ thinking that the greeny blue colour looked like a good match for the Inchyra, and promptly forgot I’d even bought it.
A while back, when I was walking the dog, I walked past a van and was interested to see the little Instagram logo next to his company name, ‘The Alpine Painter‘. I looked him up online and his Instagram was full of gorgeous projects. Long story short, I enlisted the lovely Wayne to come and put up the mural, which had been sitting in our kitchen for months.
Finally, last week it was my turn (he’s pretty busy) and the mural was beautifully and expertly applied to the wall. I’m delighted. The colours go beautifully both with the blue velvet bed and the Inchyra Blue walls. It’s created the most beautiful, peaceful, restful feeling to the room. Just glorious.
Turns out that something as simple as adding a wallpaper mural to our bedroom has given me loads of confidence to introduce even more colour (and maybe a bit more wallpaper too). Watch this space!
