The best friends breakfast with Lilo & Stitch at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort
The boys have always adored Lilo & Stitch. I dread to think how many times we’ve watched the movie over the years and even now Charlie’s got a Stitch character on his car keys. One of the things I really wanted to do when we were at Walt Disney World was to treat everyone to the best friends breakfast with Lilo & Stitch. I did it ages ago and it was great fun, plus the food really stood out for me, so on the day we were due to fly home, I booked us in for breakfast for a last treat before we headed back to pack up and leave Disney’s Contemporary Resort (sob).
What’s all this character breakfast business then? There are loads of different themed character breakfasts at Walt Disney World, from the brilliant Bon Voyage Adventure Breakast at Trattoria Al Forno to the super cute safari one at Tusker House at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. I always recommend booking at least one of these during your stay as it’s a fab way to get some proper ‘up close and personal’ time with your favourite characters. There’s always fun and dancing, delicious food, and the Disney characters are very good at making sure they give each table some proper attention, and pose for some lovely photos too.

Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort is just beautiful, and a lovely place to visit even if you’re not staying. The Ohana restaurant is a buzzy place to have breakfast or dinner,Trader Sam’s Tiki Terrace is awesome for live music and delicious, tropical cocktails al fresco, plus it’s on the monorail so it’s really easy to get to the Magic Kingdom, Epcot and beyond.

It’s best to book in advance, although we were lucky and only booked a couple of days beforehand with the My Disney Experience App. Once everyone’s arrived and got their table, the fun begins.. just look at the view we had!

The table service staff are super friendly, and the food is all you care you eat, which is handy as the coconut and pineapple bread is possibly one of the most delicious things I’ve ever eaten.

The breakfast is served family style on huge platters, with piles of scrambled eggs, pork sausages, delicious thick slices of ham with pineapple compote and island style fried potatoes. Oh, and it wouldn’t be a Disney breakfast without Mickey waffles and fresh fruit, of course. The attentive servers keep the food topped up and there’s delicious tropical juice and bottomless coffees too.

As you’re tucking in, the characters start to appear: first Lilo, who pops round to every table to say hi, and then Stitch and Mickey, who then lead all the kids around in a big, noisy dance session.

When Stitch arrived, he was pretty chuffed to find that his face was on the front of Charlie’s t-shirt, and they definitely had a bit of a moment (and a selfie too).
How much does it cost? We paid $187-11 (£144 at today’s rate on xe.com) for an all you can eat breakfast for six adults (this includes an 18% tip), so basically £24 each for an absolute ton of food and coffee and a brilliant character experience in a gorgeous location. To be honest, we paid $171 at The Wave at Disney’s Contemporary Resort for just a normal (but still delicious) breakfast without any extras, so I really think it’s great value. And remember you’ll probably have some kids in your party, who pay less.
The verdict? It’s a wonderful, fun character meet & greet for kids (and adults!) of all ages, with some top quality food in a stunning location. I’ve already recommended this character breakfast to a few people who are planning Disney holidays - definitely one to book.
As usual, if you’re planning a holiday to Walt Disney World and have any questions at all – I love helping in any way I can, so ask away!
Many thanks to Disney Destinations International and to Virgin Atlantic (some of our accommodation and a small portion of our flights were gifted – all the rest was paid for by us, including this breakfast). All words, photos unless otherwise stated, and opinions, are my own.
