New year, new plans
Happy New Year! I hope you had a lovely evening with your friends and family (or indeed a quiet one at home). We had family round and did a huge Middle Eastern feast, with slow roasted Mechoui lamb, minted yogurt, harissa and sweet chilli jam, all stuffed into warmed pittas with red cabbage and salad. So yummy and a great way to feed a crowd.
I know some people are a bit scathing about New Year resolutions, but I always think it’s a great time for planning and setting goals, and anything that make you feel positive and upbeat about the year to come has got to be a good thing.
Our main focus this year is going to be the house. We’re hoping to refurbish it as much as finances allow, maybe even getting round to knocking the kitchen and dining room into one nice big room. We’re also going to have a look at renewing the bathrooms. Bathrooms have changed over the years to suit the changing needs of the family, and the boys still have the traditional ‘shower over the bath’ set up. I’ll be honest, I can’t remember the last time anyone (except the dog) had a bath in our house. Maybe it’s time for a wet room or walk in shower?
I’ll also be looking forward to spending time in the garden this year. I’m going to plant some trees to disguise the ugly wall at the end of the garden (I’d love any recommendations if you’re a keen gardener - we need something that won’t block the light too much but will ‘pretty up’ the wall).
Oh, and one other change for the New Year? This morning we picked up this little guy - he’s half moggy, half Maine Coon, and is as yet unnamed. Any suggestions?
Oh he’s beautiful! I suck at naming animals (I named out cat Kitty…!) so I have no suggestions I’m afraid!
Can’t help much with the gardening (black thumb) but how cute is that kitten? What about Marmalade to match his fur?
Cathy - I loved Marmalade too! I was outvoted, but we decided on Finn which I quite like too x
I think he is too cute by far! The obvious name would be Ginge. But I think he looks like a Stan. 🙂
Rach, he’s been Ginge and Kitty for the past 24 hours, bless him! I like Stan too!
And what does Ms Whippet think of the new arrival…..mm??
Ms Whippet is kind of pleased that she has a new friend, but is slightly rough so needs to be supervised at the moment! They fell asleep together last night, though which was really cute!!
I can’t help with the gardening (black thumb rather than green fingers) but how delicious is your kitten? So… marmalade?
