I was lucky enough to be on a cruise around the Greek islands this week (I took over P&O Cruises’ Instagram account, if you’d like to take a peek – more about beautiful P&O Cruises Oceana coming soon). It’s scorchio in Greece at the moment. On Saturday we docked in Piraeus and travelled a couple of hours inland to visit the ancient archaeological site of Delphi. It’s beautiful, but there are a lot of steps and steep slopes and very little shade, and in 35 degree heat, it made me realise that my crocheted black dress (although light – it’s a Next beach dress) was woefully badly chosen. What I needed was light, airy, cool and as much as I love it – possibly not black. Hush have added quite a few new pieces to their summer collection, which includes lots of lovely lightweight dresses, so I think I might invest in a few for my next trip. Here’s my weekend wishlist chosen from the new hush high summer styles.
Let’s get the boob thing out of the way first, shall we?
One of the things I’ve noticed on this trip is that so many people go bra-less under strappy summer dresses. I’m not quite sure this is me (I don’t like the feeling of my boobs – how can I put this nicely? – hanging free, but hey, that’s just personal preference). Mostly I find, being not too mahoosive in the boob department, that I can get away with a more delicate bra (you need one that’s not too high under the armpit), and these little lacy hush ones are perfect – they’re pretty and stretchy and give just enough support to give you a bit of confidence under something floaty, plus they come in a load of cute, ice cream colours too! This delicious calypso colour is just £10 in the sale too:
On to those strappy dresses, then. This Aurelia mini dress is light and pretty and perfect for slinging over a bikini on the beach. I’m not much of a pattern girl, personally, but I could live with this one, especially on holiday:
Fancy a bit of a longer length? This Giselle midi shift dress (£59) looks elegant and I personally like the darker colour (the slightly shimmery stars are pretty too), which easily takes it from day to night.
This gorge new Tori Anne dress looks floaty and cool and really appeals to monochrome-loving me:
If you love a laid back black maxi (basically the holiday wardrobe holy grail for me), look no further than the new Dana maxi – floaty and relaxed with some lovely detailing in the form of slim cut out lace panels. I really want this one:
hush have also released their delicious Portobello dress in a new white colourway (also want this one):
Prefer sleeves? Well, I’m a big fan of putting a relatively fitted, light t-shirt under a strappy dress (here’s me doing exactly that with my now sadly not available strappy hush maxi), or there’s the Liv midi dress which has sleeves in the same starry pattern as above with a lovely relaxed fit and v-neck:
Et voila. Something for every dress lover there, I think (there are also new tees, tanks, skirts and jumpers as well as a cute new playsuit and jumpsuit).. Also don’t forget that there are still some great bargains to be had in the hush sale at up to 50% off and free delivery for all UK orders over £50 and free returns on sale and non-sale items.
