Well hello there! It’s me again, the terrible temptress of the wardrobe. I know, I can’t help it. You see, I think the trouble is that because I’m not a multi-millionaire, and therefore can’t buy all the hush clothes, I feel this urge to pick out the best bits so that you can buy them instead. I suppose I’m kind of like a feeder, but with clothes instead of food (actually, the boys always say I’m a feeder, so I’m clearly both!). Anyhoo, I hope you’re well and have some lovely chilled out plans for the weekend. I thought I might tootle over to intu at Milton Keynes who have an Etsy Artisan pop up market, which sounds like a lovely place to have a wander, and then I can see a takeaway, a big glass of velvety red and some Strictly in my future. The biggest news of the weekend, however, is the brand new hush October collection.
If you’re drawn to lots of colour and pattern, you might not find exactly what you want right here, as I tend to run a little to the minimalist side of fashion: lots of grey and black, muted colours, soft textures, denim and Converse and a little pop of leopard here and there. I find hush is very good for playing with new patterns and textures as they might bring out something you love in a new version, so you’re already in your comfort zone with the fit and style. Case in point is the gorgeous Marina skirt. This double layered chiffon beauty is the staple of many a wardrobe – perfect for day and evening, and hush have now brought it out in a gorgeous grey muted snake print. I LOVE this look, it’s a perfect dress up/dress down combination (I might even change the boots for trainers though – I know, I know…).
The jumper teamed with the Marina skirt is the Mara raw edge – a lovely, slouchy, soft wool and alpaca mix jumper with an interesting front seam detail and raw edges. I adore it, but I still have a very similar slouchy, soft jumper from hush from last year, so I probably shouldn’t buy this one too. I love teaming these loose, boxy jumper shapes with leather or leather-look leggings. The fact that they cover your bum gives you a bit of confidence and I think they look super chic. It would also definitely work with a pair of coated jeans – these ones are skinny fit, ankle length and have a bit of give in them too (ooh and if you’re in the market for a leather jacket, check out my roundup here).
As well as snuggly jumpers, you could also be potentially in the market for a new coat at this time of year, and there are a couple of beauties in the new hush October collection, starting with – be still my beating heart – the Lizzy leopard faux fur coat. Yes, it’s an investment piece, but look how gorgeously silky and soft it looks, and look at the fit! Oh me oh my…
When your wardrobe is mainly black, a statement piece like this goes with practically everything (although I’m not quite brave enough to double leopard with any of my other pieces yet). If you want something that’s more of an all-rounder, may I suggest the Britt parka? It’s available in blue, but I’m drawn to this khaki and black version. Gorgeous, practical enough for everyday but luxe enough to give any outfit an effortless lift. While we’re in this weird cold in the morning, warm later in the day-type weather, you can take out the faux fur lining and remove the hood too. Clever!
Talking of dressing up/dressing down, I’m seriously drawn to this devore leopard maxi skirt. I’m already thinking trainers and a slogan tee, but also, what about a gorgeous cashmere polo neck and some lovely black leather boots? Heaven. There’s even a cami top to match if you want to make it into a seriously dressy outfit. You know I don’t usually do navy but there’s enough black here to keep me happy, and the richness of the fabric! I love it.
So there’s enough to keep you busy for a while. Let me know if you’ve seen anything that’s caught your eye, and remember you can get 10% OFF everything in the hush autumn collections (plus free delivery and free returns) if you order online before midnight on Sunday and enter code AMN1018 at the checkout. Have a lovely weekend xx
