One of my favourite places in Miami is Lincoln Road. It’s a huge, pedestrianised area stuffed with shops, restaurants, cafés, and on certain days there are market stalls and food stalls too. After working up an appetite on our cycling tour of Miami Beach, we headed to SushiSamba and flumped down in the shade of their gorgeous orange brollies to do a bit of nibbling and people watching.
First up was a scrummy Watermelon Mojo (refreshing and non-alcoholic – honest!) with a platter of edamame beans with sea salt and lime – addictive! (Sorry for the orange-ness of the photos, I blame the umbrellas):
Then, the nibbling really began in earnest as our lovely waitress brought out plate after plate of delicious food…crispy taquitos with a seriously spicy aji panca sauce and fresh lime…
and then a whole platter of different types of sashimi seviche: tuna with coconut, tomato, serrano, grapefruit and cilantro; jumbo shrimp with passion fruit and cucumber and yellowtail with garlic ginger and soy… all delicious.
and then sweet sea bass miso kebabs (AMAZING) and samba rolls with shrimp, yellowtail… you name it:
Every platter contained something even more amazing than the last. We drank beers, we chatted, we laughed. And I can honestly say that it was one of the best meals I’ve EVER had. There was even a special Brazilian World Cup inspired platter:
I’ve never really eaten much sushi before but I have to say, I am now a total convert. I can’t wait to get back to Miami and SushiSamba will be one of the first places I head to. Just perfect.
