So Sam and I are off on a trip on Sunday (don’t feel too bad for Charlie – we’re travelling together in April) on the delicious Disney Dream. Before I travel, I have a few little pre-trip rituals and pampering treats, and pack a few tried and trusted essentials. Here are my recommendations:
First things first, I always book in with my lovely Laura for, well, some essential personal maintenance (ahem), and to have gel nails. I hate looking scruffy, and normal nail varnish never lasts. I’m currently obsessed with these delicious neon rainbow ones.
I always have my Barbara Wiggins metallic leather wallet on the go. Sadly, I don’t think she makes the A4 size I’ve got any more, but the metallic 8″ one is gorgeous too:
I’ve got a terrible memory, so as soon as I’m planning a trip, I start popping things in here: notebook, currency, passport, ESTA, parking confirmation, flight details, travel insurance…
And talking of parking, I always use APH meet and greet (not sponsored – I just genuinely think they’re brilliant). I love the ease of heading straight to the airport and passing the car keys straight over, ready to be met again when you step out of the terminal, and their drivers are so lovely – they’ve even moved my cars between terminals for me when my travel plans have changed.
I always keep carry-on luggage to a minimum – we always think we’re going to use all that stuff, but generally if you take a big carry-on bag, it gets stuffed up in the overhead lockers and doesn’t get seen again until after you land. It’s best to keep it to a large handbag size (this time I’m trying out this gorgeous navy blue Boden Maida Vale bag). I make sure I have a make-up bag with lipbalm, cleansing wipes, toothbrush and toothpaste, a small handcream and a little mini perfume for a quick freshen up before landing (don’t forget the clear bag!). I take my sunglasses, Microsoft Surface tablet for working on the go, a book and notepad, a nice wrap or hoodie because it always seems to get cold on a plane, my phone (ahem, my new iPhone that I can use while travelling – thanks to Three UK’s Feel at Home) and headphones and that’s me done.
How about you? What are your travel essentials?
