We adore France. We’ve had such wonderful family holidays there and it just ticks all our boxes: fabulous food, gorgeous countryside, wonderful beaches, loads to do, and just a short hop over the channel too. We’re seriously considering a couple of weeks over there this summer.
Our last trip there was to Pléneuf Val André in Brittany. The little seaside town has a gorgeous beachfront (and a great harbour wall, perfect for jumping!), some wonderful restaurants and is still small enough that you feel you’ve discovered somewhere special. There are also loads of interesting things just a short drive away – chateaux, lovely towns and even go-karting.
Last time, though, although our accommodation was lovely (we prefer self catering), we were too far away from the town centre, certainly too far to walk, which meant that each night we had to drive into town to a restaurant. Next time, we’ll pick somewhere more central (one of those gorgeous beachfront houses, we’re hoping) so we can take a leisurely wander in to grab fresh baguettes for breakfast, and it’s also close enough to walk into town for dinner, a few drinks and maybe a post dinner glace too.
We’ve recently discovered France Voyage, which is kind of a one-stop shop for anyone considering visiting France. Pop in your destination and you can find accommodation (whether you prefer hotels, gites, bed and breakfast, apartments, camping… whatever), restaurants, things to see and do, including upcoming events, it even recommends walks you can take (and lets you set the level of activity). It even shows our favourite restaurant, gorgeous Cap Sud overlooking the harbour!
There’s also a really cool tool which allows you to create itineraries by inputting your interests (sightseeing, walking, sports, relaxation), the age groups of your party, even how far from your base you want to travel.
And all this talk of France (and revisiting all these precious photos) has made us want to go even more
