My hush autumn 2018 wishlist
I usually save my shopping posts until the weekend, as you know, but the hush autumn 2018 pieces have gone live today and I’m SO EXCITED, there was no way I was going to wait until Saturday to show you my favourites. As usual, hush have excelled themselves, going for a mix of effortlessly easy to wear separates, lovely dresses (some old favourites in new prints), some cute casual pieces and some more luxe pieces that will be perfect as the weather gets colder and, as with most hush investments, will last for years. So if, like me, you’re obsessed with laid back luxe, you’re going to absolutely love this collection. Here’s my hush autumn 2018 wishlist:
Investment pieces
These days, I’m all about a capsule wardrobe. I want a curated collection of really great quality clothes in my wardrobe that feel and look great, work well together, and are contemporary enough that I feel stylish, without being so ‘fashion’ that they’re out of date in one season. Like you, I work hard for my money, and am prepared to save up and spend it wisely. These pieces cost a little more, but they’re on my investment wishlist:
I mean, you already know you’re going to see this on loads of stylish women across the internet, don’t you? I love a slogan jumper and I’m seriously coveting this cashmere beauty right now. I would just rock it with jeans and boots, but I can also see it looking gorge with a maxi skirt and trainers too. LOVE.
I’m a casual dresser at heart and adore a parka. I just think they’re so effortlessly cool, and I’d much rather wear a parka than a more fitted coat – you can layer up the jumpers underneath and they’re perfect for dog walking. I love the shorter, just-over-the-bum length and the leopard lining just makes it for me.
This jumper is such a clever fit, being a little fuller in the body, but not swamping you by keeping the sleeves quite slim fit. It’s slightly longer at the back, so again great for covering the bum (making it perfect to wear with my favourite leather leggings). Also available in a navy marl and black. Love it – this could potentially be the thing I’m saving up for next.
Athleeeeeeshure, dahling
My wardrobe is probably a large percentage athleisure (I can’t say it without doing the above though, sorry about that). hush do this sort of casual dressing really well (clue’s in the title I guess, seeing as they’re hush homewear), zhuzhing up joggers so that you can wear them out (or on an plane, for which they are perfect), and making great quality sweatshirts you want to be seen out in.
These come in a camo print, a lightning bolt and a zebra (see, I told you it was all about the animal print this season!). They’re a great fit too – mid-rise, not too baggy, not too slim – and the prints just elevate them to the level that you’re not even thinking you’re wearing joggers out of the house.
Side note: I like these better than the Amie joggers (these are in a new print but the same style as the striped ones from last season). It’s personal preference, but the material is lighter, and therefore less flattering, and I didn’t get on with the wide, low-rise waistband/tie at the waist – I just felt a bit ‘bunched up’ in the middle, somehow. IF you don’t have a tummy, these will probably be perfect for you! Anyway, moving on…
I couldn’t do a hush autumn 2018 wishlist without some of their awesome sweatshirts, and they’re amazing this season. I want about four, but I’ll try and contain myself. I love the boyfriend fit of this hoodie, and the stars just make it even cuter. It’s a longer length, so perfect if you want your bum covered (say if you’re wearing leggings).
More stars here, I like that this sweatshirt has been enhanced with the biker style stitching on the shoulders. The star has a bouclé texture to it as well. Just little bits that elevate it from any other standard sweat top. This one also comes in a petrol/steel blue colourway. I’d size up with this one for a really relaxed fit.
Side note: also, can I just say that with hush pieces, if you do eventually get fed up with them, they do really well on Ebay. I had one of the reversible star jumpers and wore it for absolutely ages, but then decided that the colour didn’t really fit with my new minimal aesthetic (it was pink), but it still got a really good price on Ebay. I love that even if you fall out of love with it, someone else is there waiting in the wings to give it new life.
Dresses
Anyhoo, enough leeeshure, it’s time for the gorgeous dresses. As I said on Saturday, the floral maxi isn’t going anywhere, and there are a few beauties to choose from in the latest collection.
I mean, it’s black (or green and gold), it’s got a galaxy print, it’s got long sleeves, a comfy elasticated waist, and a side split that means you can actually walk in it without killing yourself (and flash a bit of leg, so it never looks frumpy). I just flipping love it.
… and in the pine/gold colourway:
I’m also quite taken with this one. It’s an update of last season’s Kensington shirt dress, with added stretch in a silver floral print. The asymmetric hem makes it really stand out, and again I love the flattering, shirred waistband. I’m already imagining this with trainers and a longer length chunky cardi, but that’s just me.
Trousers
I’m a bit addicted to side stripe military-looking trousers at the moment. I really really hope they bring these out in black because they look absolutely amazing in the navy/gold. Love the relaxed fit – they just look effortlessly cool.
Also, how awesome are these? I love the hint of red in the check (which is massive for AW18), and the fact that they’re tailored but don’t look too fitted (a bonus for those of us blessed with a bum that ruins anything remotely fitted by either fitting on the waist, then being too tight on the bum, or sizing up so the bottom fits but leaving a huge gap at the back of the waistband). I think I’d have to try them on, but the initial reaction is yes please. Also, if you want to go matchy matchy, I think the Chrissie check blazer goes with these.
At the risk of making this the most scrolling you’ve ever done in one day, I’m going to leave this here. But check out the whole amazing hush autumn collection now. There are some fab slogan tees, an incredible faux fur coat, these red boots (above), accessories and a ton more stuff too. Just gimme it all.
PS: The header photo is the Kara tipped jumper in midnight marl.
