So we’re just about to exchange on the House of Bodily fluids! We’re ridiculously excited, but obviously slightly nervous as we’ve not really taken on a full refurbishment before, and saving up for a deposit hasn’t left a tremendous amount of room in the finances for tarting up our new house.
The plan so far is to try and work it so that we complete on the house but keep our current house for at least a few days so we can get in and do the messiest work: rip out the worst of the interior… carpets, etc, and possibly even knock the wall down between the kitchen and dining room, plus obviously throw lots of bleach around the place before we actually have to move in. As much stuff as possible will be boxed and stored in the garage to give us room to get on with cleaning and modernising the place as best we can. Bigger stuff like the kitchen/bathrooms etc will have to wait until we can afford it.
It was good timing, then, when Argos asked me to join in with their new colour campaign and create a mood board for a room in our new house (or indeed any house). I’m determined not to do what I did before, which is to end up with a house that’s completely cream, so this time I’m thinking that our staple neutral should be grey, with accents of nice bright colours. I was particularly struck by a grey/yellow combination in a magazine recently, so here’s my mood board: mostly grey with a couple of flashes of acid yellow to brighten things up. How nice is that pendant?
