We’re so lucky where we live to have an amazing choice of food shops – I shop all over the place: our lovely local farm shop, several different supermarkets and sometimes at a local, but quite small M&S Simply Food. We love M&S food and wine, and we often pop in, especially if I’m going to be away, to stock the boys up on their pizzas, which are amazing, and their meatball pasta sauce, amongst other things. Plus, of course, I need to keep myself stocked up with Penny Pigs. My fave.
Last week I was invited to the opening of a HUGE new M&S Simply Food just down the road from me in Berkhamsted, Hertfordshire. I took my Disreputable Dad with me to see the ribbon cutting and meet the lovely Store Manager, Grahame Wilson, who’s terrifically proud of his amazing new store which occupies over 10,000 sq ft of retail space and is a fabulous, bright, modern space. There’s an in-store bakery and a lovely café where we stopped for a quick coffee (and cake, obviously):
While I was there, I was lucky enough to be offered some products from the new Summer of Flavour range. There are all sorts of lovely new goodies – yummy breads, salads, picnic stuff (including new gluten free options like quiche and scotch eggs – ooh and gluten free beer!), and loads of new barbecue bits and pieces – some nice meat options like apple barbecue smoked pork shoulder, marinated steaks, kebabs, etc. We tried the new ‘posh’ hot dogs with jalapenos and Monterey Jack cheese, with brioche buns (which were amazing):

The Summer of Flavour items are out now.
