As a mum (and I speak from experience here), there’s nothing nicer than opening a pressie containing lovely pampering stuff that you might think twice about splashing out on yourself.
In this Big Christmas Gift Guide, I’ve brought together a few lovely treats that will make you, your mum/your wife/your sister feel fabulous, because, hey, they deserve it.
Starting at the top, then… I love my hair blonde, but I do find having highlights tends to make it a bit fluffy. My hairdresser recommended the Kérastase Discipline Bain Fluidealiste & Masque duo and I’ve never looked back. I ALWAYS shop at Gorgeous Shop for all my haircare bits and bobs as they’re local to me and it’s so important to support businesses in your local area. There’s a ‘fondant’, which is like a normal conditioner, but I always go for the thicker masque that’s in a pot. Amazing, and leaves my hair soft and fluff-free! The duo, with the shampoo and the masque is currently on sale at £31.15 with free delivery too.
Next up, skincare wise, you can’t get better than the Radical Skincare range. I discovered this a while ago and absolutely swear by their amazing Multi Brightening Serum (£95). I actually notice the difference when I don’t use it. This year, they sent me some other bits from the range and I’m addicted to the Anti Ageing Restorative Moisturiser (£100) now too – it leaves you lovely and glowy, without being greasy, and is seriously firming too. Also, if your loved one has gone all Nora Ephron and is starting to worry about their neck, the Firming Neck Gel (£80) is a must. A fabulous range – pricey, but worth every penny. I’d rather go without something else and save my money to buy this any day.
Another thing on my wishlist is a gorgeous fragrance. I got a sample of Marc Jacobs’ lovely floral fragrance, Lola (£32.73 for 30ml), a while ago and I’ve loved it every time I rediscovered it in my make up bag. Time for a bigger bottle, I think!
Lovely British toiletry brand, Bronnley, have really upped their game with year with beautiful boxes and delicious new scents. The orange and jasmine smells amazing and comes in really lovely new packaging too:
Another treat for me is being able to disappear for an hour with a magazine and have a lovely scented soak. My favourite is Elemis Skin Nourishing Bath Soak (£37.80), which leaves your skin really soft and smells divine.
For stocking fillers and other treats, you can’t beat hand washes, hand creams and other scented bits and bobs. The method range have some scrummy scented treats out at the moment. I’m especially addicted to the Peppermint Vanilla foaming hand wash:
Want to steer right away from smellies but still pamper your favourite person? How about something beautiful AND practical? British designer Janey Whitehorn specialises in creating beautiful swirls and marble patterns on fine silks and other materials using a traditional hand marbling technique. I love this hot water bottle, which is beautifully finished and sumptuously padded, and Janey is local to me, in Bedfordshire, so I’m shopping local too – bonus).
And of course, no pampering evening is complete without chocolate. Lily O’Brien’s Chocolate Treasures Collection contains 16 scrummy chocolates including our favourite, Sticky Toffee Pudding flavour. It’s in a lovely three-tier jewellery box too. Beautiful (£10, Waitrose).
And last but certainly not least, Thornton’s fabulous Continental collection celebrates its 60th birthday this year and has released a range of boxes with some classic recipes. The Continental Birthday Box costs £15 and is MASSIVE! If you want something slightly smaller, the Dreamy Winter Desserts collection is smaller and just as yummy!
