So did I mention I’m going to New York?
I’m going to New York for work (like a proper grow up) and then straight onto a fabulous cruise. I’m feeling like the luckiest girl in the world. I also have just discovered that I have NOTHING TO WEAR.
I live 99% of my life in skinny jeans and sweatshirts (my favourite being the starry one from Hush), and a pair of Converse, but then I work from home and never go anywhere really apart from the odd dinner out in which case I wear my Next coated black skinny jeans and a slightly nicer top.
I am boring.
This is obviously not going to cut it in New York and so I turned to lovely Boden to help out. First, though, a visit to my favourite fashion and style blogs. The delicious Online Stylist always has the best ideas. I’ve been looking at her posts recently, and was especially taken with everything on this one about navy. I’ve discovered that I already have some cute little Dune navy loafers that will be perfect. I’ve also noticed that crops (and boyfriend jeans rolled up with a little cuff) are big news at the moment, especially with heels. I can’t really wear heels (dodgy centre of gravity – make me walk like a giraffe), but thought these gorgeous Valencia wedges were just the ticket and neutral enough to go with anything (lovely Does My Bum Look 40 has been extolling the joys of metallics as a neutral recently). I also got a blue chambray sleeveless shirt that I thought would look good with jeans, shorts… basically anything.
The biggest surprise though, were the Bistro Crop trousers in navy chic spot – totally out of my comfort zone – I’m not a trousers person at all, but I loved them. They fitted really well, looked really smart and – surprise – were comfortable too. Here I am, looking like a tit (I’ve also discovered that it’s REALLY hard to look normal while posing in clothes – plus I needed to turn the light on) with my metallic vest from Next. They also looked fab with a Breton strip t-shirt too though. I love them so much I’m tempted to buy a black pair so I can look all sensible and grown up when I go to London for meetings.
Plus, of course, I have my fabulous birthday beautiful Boden Nancy dress all ready for sunny days and balmy nights:
I think I’m all set. I’ll see you all very soon xx
