It’s been a bit of a whirlwind weekend for my pal, Mickey Mouse, as he’s been celebrating a very special anniversary – it’s 90 years since Mickey first appeared in Walt Disney’s iconic cartoon, Steamboat Willie. This weekend was also pretty special at Disneyland Paris, because as well as celebrating Mickey’s 90th with a celeb-filled party, and an enormous cake baked by Pastry Chef and Chocolatier Pierre Hermé, there was a special celebration to mark the opening of Disney’s Enchanted Christmas. If you’re thinking of experiencing a magical Christmas at Disneyland Paris, I’ve teamed up with Isango.com, the specialist retailer of tours, experiences and Disneyland Paris Tickets to bring you all the latest news this holiday season.
What can we expect at Disneyland Paris this Christmas?
There aren’t many places quite as magical as the Disney parks at Christmas time. You’ll find breathtaking displays of twinkling lights on every corner, a cute Christmas market at Disney Village, fabulous decorations and of course the most spectacular Christmas trees! There are loads of new experiences, parades, meet and greets and shows, all designed to make you feel extra festive, and it’s a wonderful way to spend some quality time with your family. You can even splash out and book a special Disney Hotel room specially decorated, with a beautiful Christmas tree and wonderful Disney gifts.
The Disney Christmas Parade
You’ll find all your favourite Disney characters looking super festive in their best Christmas outfits in the Disney Christmas Parade, with Mickey, Minnie, Donald and Goofy leading the way. Watch out for Buzz and Woody as well as dancing gingerbread men and sugar canes. Plus you might even be surprised by a visit from Santa and even a magical snowfall!
Mickey and the Magic of Christmas Lights
You’ll find this beautiful show, themed around the lighting of the Christmas tree, in Town Square, Disneyland Park. Join Mickey and Minnie in front of the tree, and watch as they join up with Santa Claus to bring the tree magically to life, with beautiful music, twinkling fairy lights and a sprinkling of snow too!
Mickey and the Big Christmas Band
Over at the Animagic Theatre at Walt Disney Studios Park, you can see a fabulous live performance featuring your favourite Christmas songs with a jazz orchestra and some pretty spectacular tap dancing too as Mickey and his Big Band perform in this brilliant all-singing, all-dancing Broadway-style show (I’ve heard rumour that Mickey’s drum solo is something else too).
A Christmas FantaStitch
This year, Stitch is taking over the stage at the Castle Theatre for his own very special Christmas show featuring loads of festive fun, Christmas tunes and a visit from quite a few of his famous friends. Knowing Stitch, this show will be full of fun!
The amazing Christmas of Goofy night-time show
Bring an exciting day to a close with this festive and fun evening show. If you’ve ever seen any of the incredible laser and light shows at Walt Disney Studios Park, you’ll know just how breathtaking this show is likely to be: featuring some incredible special effects mapped onto the facade of the Hollywood Tower Hotel, site of The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror ™. And knowing Goofy, there are bound to be a couple of extra surprises thrown in too!
So far so magical? Well that’s not all: you can also meet all your favourite Disney Characters in their extra special Christmas outfits and Santa Claus in the parks too, I mean, if you haven’t Instagrammed a selfie with Santa, have you really been to Disneyland?
