Happy Monday! Hope yours is going well. I spent most of the weekend dreaming and drawing and planning (oh and making yummy barbecue pulled chicken too). We’ve been working and saving really hard for our upcoming kitchen refurb and it’s lovely to think that this is the year that we’ll actually be able to start making our dreams become a reality. I spend so much time in the kitchen, it’s one of the places that I’m really looking forward to starting work on. We want to knock the wall down between the kitchen and the dining room to recreate a larger, more sociable space – something that really hit home to me during our New Year’s Eve party, when I was stuck at the sink clearing plates between courses, listening to everyone having fun in the next room.
I’m not a ‘designer’ girl exactly, I use one nice handbag until it’s knackered and I probably have less shoes than any of the other members of the family, but I DO like nice kitchen things. Here’s my kitchen luxe wishlist. sadly, I won’t be buying all of it but hey, a girl can dream…
I love copper pans and these copper tri-ply ones from Sainsbury’s Cooks Collection look beautiful. Made from copper, aluminium and stainless steel, they’re brilliant at even heat distribution and can go on all hobs except induction ones. They can even go in the oven to (up to 220c) and quite a few of them are half price at the moment too.
I often think that we seem to spend the least money on the things we use the most. Take the humble kettle – we got through loads before realising that a good quality one would look nicer and last longer. Sage by Heston Blumenthal have a reputation for great quality, innovative products and our Sage soft open kettle is one of my favourites. It looks great, feels chunky and boils quickly. Plus, today it’s on sale with £30 off in John Lewis.
This beauty caught my eye during a recent shopping trip with Mr English. He’d already wandered off to look at those weird curvy TVs, but my eyes were glued to its powder blue gorgeousness. I’m already calculating what I can sacrifice in the kitchen so that I can have one:
Failing that, though, I’m a bit in love with the Zen oven from Amica. It’s super eco-friendly, self cleaning, takes just four minutes to pre-heat and has telescopic trays so you don’t burn yourself putting things in and out of the oven. Oh and it looks beautiful too:
Oh, and money no object, win the lottery wishlist time? I’ll just have everything from Anthropologie, please!
