If you’re heading off on a winter holiday (lucky you!), it can often be difficult to track down everything you need. Bizarrely, swimwear only seems to be in the shops around May and then if you don’t grab the nice stuff it’s all gone again by summer, so if you’re going in November you’ve got no chance! Happily, the interwebs are here to soothe your woes, and if you hunt around you can get a bargain too!
The Flip Flop Shop has everything from Havaianas to Birkenstocks (I got my delicious navy blue ones here) and they do free delivery and free returns too:
For swimwear, John Lewis have a decent selection of swimsuits and cover ups, including this Seafolly goddess halterneck bikini, which I love:
The bikini bottoms are lovely too – just enough coverage and a bit more detail than normal bikini briefs:
My favourite beach cover up is a shirt. I love this white hush boyfriend shirt, perfect to pop over your bikini and great for sightseeing too. I’ve got their blue one from the summer collection and I wore it loads: knotted over a bikini top with shorts, just loose over swimwear and even tucked in to a denim skirt. A proper holiday multi-tasker:
Topshop have always got basics like vests and t-shirts on their website, plus they’ve still got loads of summer stuff on sale. I love this Topshop jumpsuit – a bargain now at £20 and with most sizes still available:
And for toiletries and sun stuff, really you should look no further than Marks and Spencer, whose beauty range is absolutely awesome, with more new ranges coming in all the time. They keep a good range of sun protection all year round. Also, spend £20 on Nuxe at the moment and get a free candle!
Lastly, I have a couple of these Hammamas, which I use for everything from popping in my bag on day trips when I’m not sure if we’re likely to be swimming (much lighter to carry than a towel), to using as a wrap and to cover my sunbed or lie on on the beach. In the winter, they’re draped across our sofas, bringing a much-needed splash of colour (as modelled here by my beautiful assistant, Miss Lyra) and protecting them from muddy paws:
What more could you need? Well, for me, it’s this utterly gorgeous canvas ‘Escape’ bag from Southwood Stores, which is currently sold out in all colours. It’s got leather handles and buckle straps and looks divine. As soon as it’s back in stock, I’ll be nabbing myself one – I’m just hoping that happens before my next trip!
UPDATE: Southwood Stores tell me that there are now a few bags in stock and more colours on the way *grabs credit card*
