The Gallery: a million paper butterflies

My buddy Taralara runs an online gallery with a different theme every week.  Not being much of a photographer, I tend to dip in and out a bit, but this week, the theme is ‘travel’ – how could I not join in!

This picture is the ceiling of the Dubai Mall, which took me by surprise when I looked up to see it filled with thousands of delicate paper butterflies.  It took my breath away.

That is beautiful! I love butterflies – and hope when we have another baby it’s a girl so I can decorate her room with them :)

What a beautiful picture. Reminds me of the story of the folded paper cranes for health made by Japanese schoolchildren.

I love butterflies. The word for butterfly in Irish was the very first Irish word my son ever said – after a solid year of giving him the Irish for every damn thing in the house with no results , we were out in the garden one day and he said “Look Mummy! A féileacán!” Did I bawl? Bucketloads. :)

I loved them. The whole ceiling seemed to be alive with them all fluttering in the (freezing) air conditioning! Gorgeous. x
