The best… Sunday lunch

So we haven’t done much sharing recently, have we?  The last ‘the best…’ we did was toast toppings, so today I thought we’d push the boat out a bit.

Sunday lunch.  I do love a pie.  And I don’t care whether it’s the middle of summer or not…

Another favourite with us is our patented ‘roast chicken with a lemon up its bum’ (still working on a new name for that one).  In summer, we pair it with minted new potatoes and lovely summer veg, and then Monday is risotto day.

How about you, then…  what’s the best Sunday lunch in your house?

  1. Our best is Cheese and Lentil Loaf with roast potatoes in winter, parsnips, veg, apple sauce and gravy in winter or buttery new potatoes, salads and chutney in summer!

  2. Mummylimited says:

It absolutely has to be roast beef. A rib, on the bone, yorkshire puds, roast potatoes & parsnips, greens (all out of the allotment) and the best homemade, don’t let a stock cube near it, gravy.

  3. Tony Franks says:

5 hour roasted leg of lamb, with roasted veg and rosemary roasted new pots !!

Tastes good and easy to cook !!

But today we are having a picnic at the outdoor Shakespeare and the weather is looking good.

Have a lovely day whatever you are doing.

    Tony

  4. Roast chicken, with the back bone cut out, flattened with butter and herbs pushed under the skin, roast potatoes, lots of veg, gravy from the juices, and yes, yorkshire puds, we’ll have them with anything, including stuffed with sauted mushrooms on their own :)

I’d love to say I’d give the chicken a go, Steve, but knowing me, any major surgery on a chook would end up with me damaging myself in some way! Sounds lush though.

  5. Jennifer Eccles says:

Oooh has to be lamb. I have a leg of lamb in the oven right now…with my own totally off the cuff stuffing, which may be a disaster!…we’ll see :)

Perhaps if I stopped eating out and saved the $, I could come visit.

  7. Bibsey Mama says:

Lamb. Lamb all the way. Just found a butcher in Spain who can sell me LAMB. Not pig. Lamb. So we had lamb. Yum.

    Your pie looks ace BTW.

  8. Laura says:

Belly pork with crackling. Has to be served with apple sauce, mash and loads of veges.

Of course I can’t cook this, but I know a man who does.

  9. my choice – roast lamb every time
children’s choice – anything with pasta
his choice – not fussed as long as meat and 2 veg!!
