I ant to thank my mum for all her support. We were both born with a Cleft Pallet but she has worked so hard with me and brought me up to be an understanding and confident young lady.I am not ashamed of my difference due to her love and support.I have learnt that i may look different but that doen’t make me any less important! My mum is my best friend and a whole lot more.I owe her so much and do try to treat her when i can.x

  2. Thanks Mum for always being there. Through the times that I almost died giving birth to your first grandchild, to those first months after when your 16 year old was discoering life as a parent. Thanks for always understanding my depression and doing everything you can to help. Your amazing and I probably wouldn’t still be here if it wasnt for the support you’ve given me!

Now I am a mum I see these skills anew as I share them with my daughter.
Thank you for not judging me when my life went awry, for digging deep in your heart and pocket to help me come back to the UK and turn an empty rented shell into a happy home for me and my daughter.
Thank you for letting me snap at you and accepting all my apologies.

  12. Livi says:

I want to thank my “adopted” mum’s at work, on twitter and friends for looking after me so fantastically and keeping me sane. I don’t know what I’d do without their love, cuddles and advice.

  13. I want to thank my mum for continuing to put my happiness and success before hers -even though I’ve been a grown up for a long time. I funded the startup of my biz myself but as launch was late I ran out of money. My mum has given me a huge slice of her Equity Release money from her house so that I can keep paying my mortgage whilst I get the business going. That money was for her to have good retirement on. She has also done it so that I don’t have to go back to work in IT to pay the bills, because that would make me very unhappy. She does shopping for me too and won’t let me pay her back. I will pay it all back to her eventually!
I always spent money on her when I had it. She has told me not to even dare think about buying her a present for Mother’s Day!
She’s still doing all the stuff for me that she did when I was a girl – helping me change my life and believing in me.

It wasn’t till I married into a ready made family of a step son and daughter that I realised what a nightmare I was as a teenager. I never appreciated what I put my Mum through all those years ago. Thanks Mum I was a horrible teenager!

  15. Lisa Cooney says:

  16. Dear Mum,

You are my inspiration and my rock. You have taught me so much and I am still learning from you. I know things are difficult at the moment with Dad but you keep everyone going. You are an amazing mum but also the best Granny in the world. I love you so much.

  17. stephanie says:

Thanks mum …..for being mum! :)

  18. Heather says:

From one irish daughter to her irish mother – thank you. Thank you for ensuring I can feed a thousand people when we only have 6 for dinner, thank you for the dark irish features, including the upper lip which is need of waxing every week. Thank you for bringing me up knowing who’s the stronger sex, and we’re not talking muscles. Thank you for making me so damn independent that I was a nightmare to live with. Thank you for teaching me how to bring up my own children, and thank you for accepting the apology I gave you when my boys started being ‘me’ and I realised that parenting is harder (and more rewarding) than it looks. Thank you for the stubborn streak, the impossible feet to buy shoes for. Thank you for being there when I need a chat, and for not telling me off when I don’t call often enough. Thanks for the memories gone and the memories to come.

  19. Sara says:

  22. Bibsey Mama says:

I want to say thank you mum for still loving me all though my teens, my twenties and well into my thirties when I was a self-centered little madam who thought I knew it all. When I didn’t look at you and think, there’s another woman, like me, someone who deserves my respect and understanding. I am trying to be a better daughter now. Thanks for being still being there with open arms when I finally got over myself. xxx

  23. mary barton says:

i would like to thanks my mum after being so strong when i gave birth to my twins, i was 37 weeks gone and the doctors told me they wanted the babies out now for the sake of my health and theirs, then two days later my grandad (mums dad) died. now im in london and he was in scotland, my mum then had to make the decision as to leave me to give birth with my partner who was very scared or go to the funeral, i told her to go and she did she was very upset and i gave birth the day of the funeral but then had a heart attack and was rushed to CCU where it was touch and go, all my family was in scotland so it was just me and my partner, my mum was terrified that she was going to lose me and that she couldn’t be there with me when i really needed her. she was on the first train home, i pulled through just about and now have heart problems which scares my mum all the time. im only 26 and my mum is terrified im going to go before her but she never shows it so thanks so much mum for being so strong and helping me get through everything xxx i love you loads xxx

  24. kateks says:

I’d love to win this for my mother. I’m the oldest of seven and my mother worked so hard to give us the chances in life she never had. When we felt like giving up she was always there to encourage. Her mother died just a week before my wedding and she carried on makinf the wedding cake, bridesmaid dessses and flowers even though she was really upset. It was my son’s confirmation last week (her first grandchild). I left curtains in to be cleaned and they came back without the pins to hang them. while I was at the confirmation mass she came to the house and hung. I’d really love to win this for her as she retired yesterday from her first ever job which she took up at 60.

  25. Can I just stare at the pink champagne and yummy chocolates instead? Hope you get something wonderful for Mothers Day Mrs Gorgeous! x

  26. I would like to thank my mum for always being there. For being the one person who has always told me I am great and beautiful, even when I didn’t believe her.

For sending me an advent calendar every year without fail even now I am 29. For being so selfless in our relationship and giving so much to me.

For giving me a fantastic role model – imperfections and all.

  27. Kelly says:

  29. Tracy Nixon says:

    Hi,
I am coming up to 36 now (bday on 18th April!) and I have suffered from anorexia since the age of 14/15. Mum has had a hard time coping with the ups and downs and I just want to say thank you to her for sticking by me and supporting me. If it wasn’t for her I would have given up years ago. I’m still suffering and accept now that I will continue to suffer throughout the rest of my life. I am sorry mum for not being a ‘normal’ daughter – it’s not your fault – it just had to happen to me…Love Tracy

Am following you EnglishMum and have tweeted @TracyNixon

Thanks for a lovely comp xxx
