The Death Wish Dude, newly reunited with his beloved skatepark, was flippin’ delighted recently when the lovely chaps at ExtremePie.com offered him a review pair of skate shoes.
I have to say, slipping into fussy parenting mode here just for a minute, I do worry about the amount of time their feet spend encased in sweaty trainers – it can’t be good. Still having had a look over the technical stuff, I was pretty impressed. The DC shoes that he chose are blessed with a ‘performance rubber wrap cup sole’ which means they’re very supportive, and with a perforated upper panel and vent holes in the upper, there’s good airflow, which means they don’t get too stinky (they really don’t – I’ve sniffed and everything). The quality of the nubuck leather was incredibly good, and they still look fabulous, even having had daily wear for a good few weeks now. A liberal dousing of mud brushed off easily after it had dried, and they seem to have held up pretty well despite several good drenchings too.
For the little skater, there’s dynamic grip technology, and the big fat tongue and padded sides may look slightly bulky (in my opinion – cue raised teenage eyebrows here), but it means they’re super comfy. They’ve also got a ‘sticky’ rubber outsole which means plenty of grip.
After a little customisation, they’ve quickly developed into the DWC’s very favourite trainers. We liked the look of the Extreme Pie website too, and he’s already got his eye on a pair of DC Turbo 2 skate shoes currently on sale for £35.99.
Thank you so much to Extreme Pie for making a small teenager incredibly happy!
