So recently, I’ve been mulling over the bikini/tankini/swimsuit question. I think I told you recently that I wore a tankini when I was away last week, but actually felt massive and bulky (I know I’m not, I’m a size 12, but I’m not as toned as I’d like to be). The tankini gave a very unflattering flash of flesh every time I moved and the bottoms went very baggy in the water. Attractive. Then again, in a bikini, I tend to feel a bit self-conscious, and I have to hold my stomach in. Still, since the backlash to that ‘beach body ready’ advert, where detractors rightly pointed out that if you’ve got a body and you’re on the beach, then you’re beach body ready, I think it’s fair to say that we should all be embracing our beach body, no matter what shape it’s in!
Luckily, and just in time, hush have announced the launch of their new high summer beachwear collection. I was lucky enough to get a sneak preview back in March and have been eagerly awaiting the arrival of all the gorgeous new stuff until then. Here are my top picks:
Firstly, since I AM DEFINITELY BUYING A BIKINI, no ifs, no buts, I’m delighted to see that hush are rocking them in one of my favourite colours – I love this bandeau bikini (top £35, bottom £30) in a lovely bright peachy orange:
They’re also got swimsuits, and back at the preview when I was chatting to hush’s creative director, Mandy Watkins, I was pleased to hear that she had purposefully made the swimwear with good bum coverage, and a good variety of colours to suit all skintones. I love this gorgeous blue:
And look, here’s that flippin’ gorgeous embroidered Bondi beach dress (£55) I was coveting back in March:
(and look, here’s me coveting it – with the yellow one in the background):
And I love this strappy Clovelly beach dress (£55) with the same bright orange detailing:
Here’s a video showing some of the key pieces:
The hush beachwear collection launches on May 5th. I want it all. What about you? What’s caught your eye?
