See what I did there?
On Tuesday, I hot footed it to High Wycombe to attend the opening of the new Dunelm store in High Wycombe. If, like me, you’ve mostly used Dunelm in the past when you needed a new doormat or washing up bowl, you won’t believe the difference. Existing Dunelm stores are having major refurbishments done, and new ones are light, bright, modern and user-friendly.
After the ribbon cutting ceremony, I took the chance to have a wander round the new store and check out the merchandise. The store is divided into areas such as kitchen, bathroom, etc. There’s a very swish new made to measure area, and a cosy café too. I loved the fact that you could walk through the door and, because the upstairs is a mezzanine area, you can can immediately see exactly where to go to track down what you’re looking for.
I headed straight to the kitchen department, where of course, you can still find all those everyday items, but now in gorgeous bright colours:
I love a Kilner jar. They’re such a great way to make storage look stylish, especially when, like me, you’ve got to have it on display (especially love the honey pot, top left, and did you know they do a butter churner?):
I absolutely adore the new Infinity range (top). I hate to use the term, but copper is so ‘on trend’ at the moment, and the individual pieces are so affordable. They start from under £20 for a little milk pan (SO Instagrammable!).
There were quite a few copper pieces on show. These baskets, which I thought would be great for storing towels or loo rolls in the bathroom, or even a trendy waste paper bin in the office…
…and talking of offices, how about this stunning fan?
And in the bathroom section, there are lots of affordable copper pieces:
Of course, it’s not all copper. I thought the towels, in particular were great. There are endless normal sets of towels in a myriad of colours, but I liked these smaller ranges:
The marl ones are gorgeously soft. And the bath mat is perfect for our new en-suite which is having granite coloured tiles (eventually).
Love the monochrome ones as well:
There’s a fab lighting section upstairs. I’m a bit obsessed with those kind of retro, bare bulb light fittings, and there were loads of really gorgeous vintage looking light bulbs – let’s face it, normal light bulbs aren’t exactly attractive, but look at these beauties:
I was quite taken by a few of the lamps as well. Check out this lovely Moroccan one. Imagine the light effects it creates:
And in the furniture department, there are tons of new pieces, including a lot that are ready assembled (I hate flat packed furniture, so having more choice of the solid stuff really pleases me). I think this set of tables is great – really industrial looking – there’s a whole range of this as well. I’ve got my eye on the bar stools:
As you’d expect, there’s all sorts of bedlinen, rugs, soft furnishings, etc, and if you can’t see what you want in store, you can order it online. I loved these cushions:
I came back with loads of goodies, which I’ll share with you shortly. Thanks so much to the lovely people at Dunelm for inviting me, and congratulations on your wonderful, new-look store – may it be the first of many more!
