So it seems that when I left it was high summer, and I’ve arrived back well into autumn. My first dog walk was a bit of a revelation: blackberry bushes a mass of gorgeous, ripe fruit and burnished leaves on the trees already! If you follow me on Instagram you’ll have seen my current favourite new autumnal nail colour (556 in Grenat Irreverent – which incidentally smells lovely – kind of like parma violets) and I’ve also noticed new AW16 pieces from hush – hurrah!
Talking of this beautiful berry colour, I’m enchanted by the Emma jumpsuit, which come in both a delicious burgundy and black colourway. It’s lightweight, drapey and flattering, and look at the cuffed hem which allows you to wear it with all different sorts of shoes and boots. LOVE.
Still on the jumpsuits, this chambray jumpsuit looks effortlessly cool. I wish I’d had this on my travels last week!
And there’s more burgundy with this delicious burgundy animal print, available in quite a few different styles in the new AW16 pieces from hush: a more t-shirt style top, a shirt, a skirt and a dress too. I was immediately drawn to this Greta top. I’m falling more and more in love with high neck tops (they’re ridiculously flattering, and there’s nothing more sexy than a flash of shoulder). I’m not a massively dressy dresser, but I’m thinking it would be perfect to wear out for dinner, just with simple black trousers – or even jeans – and a pair of heels:
I wore my Alessia shirt LOADS on holiday – it’s such a wardrobe stable, especially over a simple black vest. I think I’m going to need this gorgeous midnight blue version too (for those of us who can’t really do black next to our faces – perfection!):
Another casual but chic look I love is the wide leg trouser/simple white trainers look. These Mila trousers look perfect:
And oh, the jeans, the jeans… They’re just the perfect boyfriend jeans – I know they’re not new but they’re in a slightly darker colour for AW and they’re just my absolute wardrobe staple: SO flattering, just the right cut, just the right colour….
Love this gorgeous zig zag print scarf (top) so soft and lightweight and so easy to use to add a splash of colour to any outfit, and my Claire jumper (also top), in a cashmere and wool mix – soft and snuggly and cut in a slightly roomier way in the body for a relaxed fit. Looks fab with jeans:
Also, not sure if you’ve noticed the underwear at hush before, but they do the prettiest undies! Their lacy bras are absolutely perfect to wear under things when they just might be seen, and they’re also really soft and comfy for everyday (okay, not if you’re blessed with massive boobs, but I don’t have that problem). They wash really well and I think at under £20, they’re an absolute bargain. I might be the only one that does this, but they’re actually lovely to sleep in too. Love the autumnal forest and burgundy colourways.
Saving the best ’til last… How LUSH is this dream fur jacket? Okay so it’s two hundred smackers, but frankly it’s top of my Christmas list because it looks amazing. I’m imagining dinners out in an LBD and draped in delicious forest fur, and maybe fun winter days out with jeans and boots…. Actually those boots, please!
Ahhh rich berries, luscious prints and forest green hues… don’t you just love autumn?
(Psst… I have a little bit of hush gossip too… the new winter collection launches on 1st November. I’ve had a sneaky peek and it includes snuggly winter knits and pyjamas, deliciously soft cashmere, and chic silk pieces perfect for parties. Watch this space for more info!)
