We’ve been having a little try of a very clever new toothbrush. The Nano-b toothbrush is very different to ordinary toothbrushes, and we’re all quite addicted to the lovely feeling they give you after brushing.
Nano-b is a young British company, which made me even more keen to give their products a try. Firstly, the packaging is really cool (not many toothbrushes cause a heated discussion amongst teenagers about who’s going to be the tester). The toothbrushes arrive in their own clear tube – perfect for travel – and the actual brushes look really well made.
On testing, the bristles are a lot softer than you’d expect, so I found myself using a lot less pressure, but somehow because they are long and fine they reach every little corner of the mouth. First of all I found the sensation a bit weird – almost prickly, but not unpleasantly so. Apparently they also gently push the gums upwards, removing trapped bacteria and the line of plaque that builds up, while they also easily get between your teeth to work like floss. There are also shorter, oval bristles to polish the surface of the teeth and remove stains.
The Nano-b ‘charcoal and gold’ toothbrush that I tried apparently merges the natural antibacterial properties of gold with the whitening properties of bamboo charcoal. My teeth felt as though they had had a proper clean, even after red wine – no tell-tale stains for me!
There’s also a silver brush that Charlie tried, which again uses the natural antibacterial properties of silver to kill up to 99.9% of bacteria on your toothbrush, and which is especially good for people suffering from sensitive teeth and bleeding gums. I like the antibacterial properties, especially as my boys tend to leave their toothbrushes lying about in the shower – not massively hygienic.
I’m not 100% on the science, but basically, and I quote: ‘silver and gold release ions that penetrate bacterial cells, terminating the organism’. Nano-b have modified these elements into nano-sized particles (hence the name) so that they can be used to full effect on the toothbrushes.
We were genuinely impressed with the Nano-b toothbrushes (they were recently awarded “Best Health Breakthrough” for 2015 by The Beauty Shortlist) as not only do they look really nice, they really do deliver what they promise.
The handles come in blue, crystal or pink and you can buy individual brushes for £7.99 or basically the more you buy the more you save – a four pack for £23.99 or a ten pack for £49.99.
