Well hello there! I’m finally home after a busy few weeks of travelling: Paris, Barbados and finally Gran Canaria. I’ve had an awesome time and I’ve got loads to tell you and loads of recommendations, but before this summer is completely over, I wanted to tell you all about the products that worked really well (and some that didn’t). So here goes with my summer holiday skincare roundup:
So from left to right, here’s how I got on with my chosen holiday skincare. First off, the P20. I’m completely torn about this stuff. It’s an incredibly efficient product, yes, but I do find it very greasy. If you’re getting ready in the morning and going straight out onto the beach, I think it’s perfect, because it gives your skin a lovely sheen and really protects, even after swimming. If you’re going to be throwing clothes on and going down to breakfast before you hit the beach, beware, as it stained my gorgeous hush blue boyfriend shirt, and after two washes it’s showing no signs of coming out. Verdict: great, just don’t get it near your clothes.
The M&S Sunsmart range is one of our family favourites. I always have one of the little 50ml travel sizes in my handbag – they’re so handy, non-sticky and the whole range smells amazing. If you’re still lucky enough to be heading off on your travels, there’s 50% off the suncare range at the moment too.
I also highly recommend the M&S Sunsmart After Sun Moisture Protect Crème Gel 200ml (currently just £3.50), which we slathered on every evening after being in the sun. It’s rich, moisturising and leaves your skin feeling sort of minty and fresh. It also doesn’t leave your skin sticky so was a big hit with the boys. Stock up now while it’s cheap.
Still my favourite suncare product of the moment, the incredibly good Jason family sunscreen SPF45. Slather it on before you hit the sunbeds – it sinks in, is really moisturising, smells divine and is PABA-free, alcohol-free and water resistant. There are so many reviews on the Big Green Smile website about how nice it smells. I wish they’d release a body lotion with the same scent – I’d wear it all the time (20% off at the moment too).
Oh, and don’t forget to pop one of these little Badger After Sun Balm tins into your bag. Great for rubbing onto pink noses and wind chapped ears!
Last but not least, if you haven’t already, you MUST try the divine, multi tasking wonder that is Emma Hardie Moringa Balm. I’m completely addicted and always have the large size in the bathroom – it’s another product with a heavenly smell and is a fantastic, gentle cleanser that leaves your skin glowing. Take the smaller size away (it’s available in a 3 x 50ml set) with you for everything from cleansing, shaving your legs and even adding a sheen to your skin before you go out in the evening. I like to run a bath and smother my face in it as a really moisturising face mask. An absolute must-have product. I adore it.
