We’ve lived in this house very happily for the last three years. I love that we’re quite near the local fen, which is a lovely place to walk the pupster, and we’re also the last house before a wide, public footpath which is covered in beautiful pink rose bushes during the summer that tumble over into our garden.
We’re in a very small road with a house next to us and two opposite and all our neighbours are lovely. An estate agent recently said to me that you shouldn’t make decisions based on your neighbours, but I’m not sure I agree – I think it’s really important. Mr English works away and I always feel safe here knowing that I’m surrounded by decent people who care about me and my family.
But, and here’s the clincher, this house needs work. A lot of work. Our carpets are worn out, my kitchen is as old as the house and the bathrooms have seen better days. I’d love to renovate the whole place and can picture it in my head, with the dining room knocked through into the kitchen creating a big, bright kitchen diner, and lovely wood floors throughout the downstairs rooms, sparkly new bathrooms and new blinds and curtains all the way through the house.
I’ve been talking to the lovely chaps at Hatched.co.uk about moving on. I know we could find a lovely house nearby – maybe in a slightly nicer area, or a bit nearer to the boys’ school, and we’ve been looking – and even found something we liked, but sadly that deal fell through – so here we are again. Decision, decisions.
Stay? Or Sell. I love the idea of starting afresh, but then I sure would miss those roses, and the pupster does love the garden…
