I seem to have left all my Christmas shopping until the last minute this year. I think it’s because I’ve been having such good fun baking. Thank goodness for the interwebz where you can still find loads of last minute gifts for teenagers, with something to suit even the pickiest teen. And if, like me, you’re going to struggle to afford a brand new PlayStation 4 Pro (basically the only thing on Sam’s Christmas list this year, but at £350 not going to happen, unfortunately), I’ve hunted down some great gifts that will keep any type of teenager happy.
First up, Sam absolutely loves a Christmas jumper – the nerdier the better – and we absolutely love this Pokemon Christmas jumper (available from Amazon) – it’s really thick and lovely quality so it will come out every Christmas for years to come (plus they’ve still got a couple of weeks to wear it now!). You can buy all sorts of other Pokémon gear at the Nintendo store too (I just noticed a pink 3DS XL with one game is currently £139.99 – that’s nearly £90 off):
If you’re looking at phones, we highly recommend the new Sony Xperia XZ from Three (available on a 24 month contract from Three, complete with 500MB data, 600 minutes and unlimited texts, as well as the fabulous Feel at Home, where you can use your allowances abroad). It costs £149 up front and then £32 a month (there’s some kind of three months free offer at the moment too), which makes it a really affordable alternative to something like a Samsung Galaxy S7 or iPhone 6, but still with loads of great features, like a really great 23 megapixel camera, plus – a massive bonus for clumsy teens – it’s water resistant too.
We found it really user friendly, and the boys loved the fact that the full qwerty keyboard has the numbers above it so you don’t have to access another screen (makes for even faster texting, if that’s possible). It’s mega easy to use and has features like touching the clock on the home screen goes straight to the alarm where you can set it in one swipe. They love that it has the Apple home button, plus the Samsung back button – basically the best of both worlds, and the animated screensavers are just incredible (and a bit mesmerising, especially the spinning Christmas tree).
If you’re the parent of a teenager you’ll no doubt be aware of the vast amounts of shampoo, hair gel and deodorant that are used (we need gas masks in our house every morning to avoid the low hanging clouds of antiperspirant hanging in the air). Boots have tons of three for two offers at the moment, and loads of gifts sets at 40% off. I was in London yesterday and stocked up, so that should probably see us through to February. This gorgeous Zoella ‘on my travels’ backpack should prove hugely popular with the girlies too and currently has £20 off:
And talking of the girls, hush have some wonderful, stylish presents. This pompom keyring is adorable, and comes in loads of colours although my favourite is ocelot (I’d actually really like this myself):
If, like us, your teens are driving, and utterly car obsessed like Charlie, then Halfords is a great place to stop for a few bits and bobs to ‘pimp their ride’ as the cool kids say. We’ll be heading straight for the Jelly Belly air fresheners, and maybe some new car mats too. We also bought some new wheel trims for their Suzuki Swift that actually look like alloy wheels, and were less than £30. They’ve transformed the car.
And lastly, it wouldn’t be Chrimbo without a bit (a LOT) of chocolate. We’ve had these delicious chocolate pizzas before and absolutely loved them. They do Christmas versions, like this fabulous chocolate pizza slice (just £2.20) that make the perfect stocking fillers.
So that’s my last minute teen gift guide. What are your teens hoping for under the tree this year?
