ENGLISH MUM IN THE PRESS

In which I fair bust with pride

So as you know, my little fellas are both guitar crazy. English Towers rocks day and night to the sound of their beloved Fenders (delivered at great expense by a severely financially depleted Father Christmas), mighty vocals, severe reverb and all sorts of foot pedal trickery. The summer concert at school holds much excitement, and both of them got a spot on the playlist this year.

Firstly, then, for your delectation, is #1 singing Green Day’s ‘Good Riddance’ (Time of Your Life) on his mate’s beautiful acoustic.

And not to be outdone, his little bro’ (with his mate on the drums) does ‘Wipeout’:

And this is ‘Back in Black’ with his guitar teacher helping. Lots of tricky finger stuff here:

Oh, and this is #1 and his mate on the bass doing Green Day’s ‘When I Come Around’. That’s it now, I’ll stop crowing. I promise.

Just listen to the applause afterwards.  I nearly spontaneously combusted with pride.  My rockin’ babies, eh?

Well done that man, that was fandabidosi!! Didn’t get #2′s contribution though….

  2. Waiting for it to upload on YouTube… be with you any minute. Isn’t it fab, though Ma?! xx

  3. Grandma says:

Brilliant…wish I had been there to see it, ah well maybe next year….

  4. Grandma says:

Just seen #2 – great stuff – they could make us rich yet!

  5. Taffy's Mum says:

Listen to the proud parent/grandparents ;) Wished I was that musical, I can’t carry a tune in a bucket (the bucket always has a hole in it!)

  6. Taffy's Mum says:

    PS Well done boys :D

  7. Tara says:

completely charming; both of them! Congrats, boys. I’ll say I knew you before you were famous– er, using the term ‘knew’ very loosely, that is.

  8. Jay says:

Wow – quite the little showman, No. 1, ain’t he? And very, very good – lovely voice he has! and No. 2 is pretty darned good too!

It’s so lovely to hear the applause. Makes your heart proud, doesn’t it?

  9. TM: Aw thanks. Nope it’s not me either. I did piano but it’s Hubby who’s the guitar hero, he’s encouraged them every step and is now gutted as they’re getting better than him!

Tara: Thanks. They’ll be delighted that people actually got to watch them. I thought long and hard about posting these vids but they’re far enough away that you can’t really see their faces so I think it’s okay. And you’re right, we’ll be dining out on this one in DC in years to come. LOL!! x

  10. Jay: Thanks, you’re so kind. I’m just delighted with them. They’re always practising and it’s lovely for them to actually perform in front of people. Can’t wait for them to see these comments either x

  11. Tara says:

My sister won’t post anything of Tiny that has her face, either– she’s fairly hard core about the whole ‘this is the first generation that doesn’t have a choice about whether they’re posted all over the internet’ thing and Tiny’s only three so she can’t consent really…but if the boys are good with it and identifiers are pretty vague (like not showing face close-ups) it seems both safe and ethically right to me. Yours are old enough to be chuffed about it (and talented enough to deserve an international audience :) Did I use ‘chuffed’ properly? x

  12. Tara: Chuffed is exactly what they are! Yesterday I couldn’t get #2′s to load and he was really disappointed. I’ll leave them up long enough for people to get a look, then take them down. Your sister’s right: once I did a search for a picture of a greyhound on google and came up with a pic I’d posted of my own son with our dog! That came straight off I can tell you. x

  13. Ali says:

F*cking hell rock and f*cking roll sis ,#1′s version of time of your life seriously brought a tear to my eye,one of my all time favourite tunes and as you know my fave band, they’re both better than me on the geeeeeeetar now little sods
    x

  14. 5h4mr0(k says:

I like their musical selections as well! Where do they get their good taste in music from?

  15. Mary says:

    Brilliant!

  16. Thrifty: Ta. They’ll be pleased you think so.

Alg: Thought you’d like that. ‘Twas very good. x

5h4m: Well, we all like Green Day. Their Uncle Alg and I both like quite heavy stuff, and Hubby’s a good guitarist so he encourages that side of it.

    Mary: Aw thanks x

  17. Ruth E says:

How talented are they!!!! I’ll bet you can’t wait for the day when they’ll be making money being rock stars and you can get someone else in to do the cleaning etc and be a lady of leisure!

  18. Ruth: Too right! Cleaner, speedboat and skis, LandRover Discovery…. oops, getting carried away x

  19. Annie R says:

    That is so unbelievably cool.

  20. heth says:

  22. Annie! Aw thanks. Congrats on the cool new job and the MA by the way. Clever clogs smartie pants xx

Jeannette: Hi! Hope things are good with you in bonnie Scotland. Thanks, I’ll pass that on to the boys, they’ll be delighted x

Thanks Heth – shame me Ma wasn’t there to see it. Next time, maybe! x

  23. Moon says:

  29. Becs: Welcome, welcome, welcome! Pull up a pink chaise longue and join the party. Thank you so much, they’re loving all this attention!x

Moon: Now you’ve done it. Now I’ve been badgered with ‘when are we going to see Uncle Moon in America?’ all the way to school. Still, it beats ‘Mum, can we have a rabbit?’ I guess x

Tracey: Welcome to you too. Ooh, all these new faces – very pleasing. Shall be popping in to your gaff shortly. Oh and thanks x

  30. Good on #1 for singing so clear and strong, and #2 really impressed me with his rockin’ fast fingers. Well done to you both, rockstars in the making.

  31. Moon says:

Fabulous! How fun! I wish I had their talent. I’m in the process of giving lessons to Eldest Son and Youngest Son. YS is the only one interested. Middle Son can’t be bothered…

  34. Cam! You’re back! Wow, you give lessons? You MUST be good x

  35. Auntie Dot says:

  36. Auntie Dot! Thanks so much, aren’t they indeed? (of course we’re biased but hey) xx
