I’m SO ready for some lovely spring fashion. It doesn’t matter that it’s still grey and chilly outside, it’s so exciting to see some new season gorgeousness start to appear to cheer up all these long January days. One of my favourite brands, hush, has released a few gorgeous pieces as a taster of the full spring collection, and I’m loving the modern shapes. I think more and more for me, my clothes choices aren’t about being ‘fashionable’, but more about them being modern classics that I can mix and match with items already in my wardrobe. As I get older, I have much more idea about what suits me, and buying new pieces is all about quality, great material and wearability. Here are my favourite from the hush spring pre-collection:
Classic black wardrobe staples:
The first pieces to catch my eye were these classic pieces in black. I always think that, rather than splashing out on the latest trends, it should be the hard working staple pieces in our wardrobe that we should really invest in. For example, everyone needs a modern, flattering pair of black trousers, and I feel that these classic slim fit crop trousers £75) with a bit of stretch would be something that I’m likely to wear over and over again, with flats and a shirt (love the bird print silk shirt here) or with trainers and a t-shirt.
And talking of wardrobe staples, I also love this flattering, black, drapey Riviera jumpsuit (£85). Jumpsuits show no sign of disappearing any time soon, and as soon as I saw this one I thought how lovely it would look with a crisp white shirt underneath it, and also how lovely it would be to wear on holiday too:
Of course, everyone needs an LBD, and this Fearne dress looks so stylish and easy to wear. I love the flattering, straight fit and the little stepped detail of the hem. I think this is well priced at £65 too:
So many great quality pieces that will really build the bedrock of your wardrobe. But everyone needs a few quirky things to liven up their day too. Slogan tees and jumpers are still hugely popular, and I LOVE LOVE LOVE this Joanie sweat top (£50) – if you ever watched re-runs of Happy Days, you’ll recognise these names, but if not, you’ll just have to trust me that it’s fabulously cute and retro!
