So things on the house front have moved on AGAIN. After the third house purchase fell through, I’ve got to be honest, we were pretty despondent. I’ve never heard of it happening before, but the last one got right to survey and then the survey came in 20k under budget. Anyone else had any experience of that?
Anyhoo, it’s all change again, because we think we’ve found the perfect house – the one we’re already in! We’ve got some lovely plans to do the place up – with a spacious kitchen diner instead of our poky kitchen and separate dining room (more of this later, but my Pinterest page is burgeoning) and new floors and even bathrooms when funds permit.
This, of course, prompted the inevitable question from Charlie: ‘what about MY room?’ He’s lived in the room with a slightly dodgy paint job, a dusty old blind and a pretty horrible wardrobe for the last four years and yes, he’s pretty high on our priority list, especially after we’ve spent a small fortune kitting out Sam’s room at uni. We asked him what changes he wanted, and they came back in this order:
1. A double bed
2. One wall painted purple
3. More storage
Okay, so the purple wall is pretty easy to sort out – I love Farrow and Ball Brinjal which is a dark aubergine colour (I’ve suggested pale grey for the other walls) and yes, I think it’s time for a double bed – he’s lucky because he’s got quite a nice sized bedroom, so there’s plenty of room for a double. And, as you’ll see from the picture, when the dog’s in there too, his single one is a bit of a squeeze. He’s quite taken with leather (it’s all beginning to sound very ‘gentleman’s club’ themed here!) and likes this Eva bed at Carpetright, which looks pretty cool.
Storage is more difficult, though. I’m not a fan of pine, really, and I’m struggling to find a funky wardrobe, although these ‘Classique’ ones at AHF.co.uk are quite cool. Anyone got any bright ideas?
