Ah, meetings. Inevitably I get invited to quite a few, but when an invitation pops into my inbox to come to a meeting AT A GORGEOUS HOTEL AND SPA? Well, naturally, I’m all over it. So this is how I came to be enjoying the gorgeous spa at Pennyhill Park in Surrey. The lovely chaps at Kissimmee, Florida, invited me and a few fellow travel folks to The Spa to hear more about the area and meet with some of the representatives from the area.
The Spa is glorious, and HUGE, with something like 45,000 square feet of five star luxury, with no less than eight indoor and outdoor pools and all sorts of incredible spa treatments. I had the most wonderful body scrub treatment, and I was absolutely blown away by the facilities. The ladies’ changing room was larger than my entire house, and there’s a really top class restaurant too. We were lucky to have beautiful weather so we could loll around in the outdoor area in the sunshine. What a beautiful place.
But enough of the pampering, what of Kissimmee? Well, I’ve visited a couple of times so I know it’s gorgeous, but if you’re not familiar with the area, it’s basically right near ALL the good stuff, being a short journey away from all the major theme parks like Walt Disney World Resort, Universal and SeaWorld.
It’s a great place to base yourself for a family holiday, and Kissimmee is working hard to make sure there are lots of great accommodation options for their visitors. One of the accommodation options we discussed were the vacation homes. Kissimmee is well known for providing all sorts of different types of accommodation like hotels and motels, but the self-catering options in Kissimmee are many and varied, and basing yourself and your family in one of the many rental properties in the area means you’re truly free to make your holiday your own. Want to visit the parks one day and then maybe hang out by your own private pool the next? No problem at all. Villas, condos and townhouses are available in all shapes and sizes (up to something like 14 bedrooms so you really can bring ALL the family), and they’re often part of communities with great extras like clubhouses, tennis courts, restaurants and cinemas.
Plus of course away from the theme parks, the area offers so much more, there are championship golf courses, and because Kissimmee boasts the beautiful Lake Tohopekaliga (‘Lake Toho’) there’s fishing, paddling, kayaking, airboat rides and loads of wildlife too. One of the areas that caught my eye is The Nature Conservancy’s Disney Wilderness Preserve – over 11,00 acres of beautiful forests and bike trails filled with all sorts of wildlife. Talking of Disney, I’ve always wanted to visit Celebration – a town where lots of my Disney friends live and work – it’s a pretty place with shops, parks and restaurants – a visit would be at the top of one of my must-dos in Kissimmee.
And after all this talk of sun and fun, it was lovely to wander out to the lovely pool area and sit and chat in the sunshine. In fact, I think more people should have meetings in beautiful scenery and while enjoying wonderful treatments. We’d all be happier and healthier I’m sure.
