Do you do much to your brows? I actually don’t mind the shape of mine, but I do think that every time I go and get them threaded, they seem to take a tiny bit more away and I’ve started to notice recently that this means they’re a bit thinner than I’d like them. I mentioned this to Nat Lupton, owner of The Hair Secret in Berkhamsted (my favourite hair salon – I’m going there tomorrow for a mega-makeover – watch this space!), and she recommended that I book in for HD Brows at Bloom Beauty Bar, located just inside the salon, with their mega-talented make-up artist and HD Brow specialist Zoe Kennedy.
After doing a patch test a couple of days before, I headed in to Bloom Beauty Bar and initially sat down with Zoe to fill in a form and have a chat about what I’m really after. I mentioned that I feel my brows have become more sparse, and lack a bit of shape. Here’s the before pic (excuse my shiny forehead):

To get the perfect colour to match my natural hair colour (bearing in mind I’m going a bit darker tomorrow), while subtly enhancing my natural brow colour, Zoe blended a light ash brown colour, then used a very complicated brow mapping technique to establish where the brow should sit to best frame my face. Tinting the brows first shows up the finer, blonde hairs and makes shaping the brows easier.
After tinting my brows, Zoe deftly waxed them to get the initial shape, then used threading to blend any harsh wax lines and get rid of any fluffy unwanted hairs to give a really smooth finish. Like most people, my brows are a bit uneven and Zoe agreed that I do need to grow them back in in certain places, specifically on the edge of my left eyebrow.
To give me an idea of my ideal brow shape, and show me what we’ll be working towards (a slightly fuller, more flattering shape), Zoe skillfully filled in my brows. And, crucially (nobody wants to walk out of the salon with bright red brows), finished off the treatment by using High Definition’s new Brow Highlighter Pencil to conceal the redness, along with a final application of High Definition Foundation Powder.

The result actually really surprised me: my brows feel really natural, and (I think this is where the skill lies), the shape is mega face-flattering and dare I say it – I actually feel it’s quite a youthful look (I know, I hate it when people say that – but fuller brows do naturally enhance and frame your face). You would think that a high arch would be flattering, but it turns out that actually a fuller brow, with a flatter lower edge, but with a more defined arch at the top of the brow (if you see what I mean) works much better for my face shape. We’ve got a bit of work to do, but I’ve committed to visiting Zoe every four weeks until my brows grow into the new shape. And yes, that is a parka I’m wearing in the car just after my treatment, in AUGUST. Grrrr.
Thanks to Zoe at Bloom Beauty Bar for my treatment. For more information on HD Brows, Zoe gave me the link to
