I’ve just returned from my trip to Texas (and a cruise around the Caribbean), and, as promised, here’s my verdict on the summer holiday capsule wardrobe that I packed.
First up, the hush denim shorts were amazingly comfy and I wore them loads (and those gold espadrilles were really comfy too):
I also wore the soft tropical print shorts a lot (not a good photo, but you get the idea). They have a really soft waistband (perfect for disguising that cruise food baby):
One thing I was really short on, though, was summer dresses. For some reason, I thought about evening dresses more about nice ones for the day, and suffered severe dress envy while I was out there, watching loads of lovely ladies wafting around in easy, soft summer dresses.
Just as I got back, I noticed that hush have got loads of nice dresses (darn) and – even better – they’re all under £50 (plus they’re offering FREE UK delivery (and free returns) on all orders this month with promotion code LOOK15.)
So next time, I’ll be adding a couple of these to my summer holiday capsule wardrobe, especially this cute Venice beach dress – perfect for popping over a bikini:
And I noticed that loads of people teamed easy, pull-on maxi dresses with metallic flip flops or strappy sandals for a lovely casual evening look when it was really hot. I love the print on this shirred maxi dress, but it comes in a plain grey too:
Perfect with these L K Bennett metallic flip flops that I’ve currently got my eye on (I took Birkenstocks but sometimes they just look a bit too clumpy):
Also – what’s your view on tankinis? I took one, but actually thought it was quite unflattering. Next time, I think I’ll just suck the tummy in and go for a bikini. It’s a work in progress, this capsule wardrobe business, but I’ll get there!
