I’m back! I’ve had the most incredible few days with a group of really lovely people, and I’ve got so much to tell you about our wonderful trip, from flying to Florida with Norwegian’s state of the art Boeing 787 Dreamliners, a stay in the most ridiculously luxurious villa in Kissimmee, loads of really fun outdoorsy stuff like kayaking, climbing and swimming, and discovering pretty towns, gorgeous hotels, white sandy beaches and trendy towns with buzzy nightlife.
As there’s so much to tell (and show) you, with so many recommendations for gorgeous places to stay, great restaurants to visit, and a huge variety of things to see and do should you be considering visiting the area, I thought I might split my trip into three Florida photo diaries: one for Kissimmee, one for St Pete and one for Clearwater.
Flying to Florida with Norwegian
We started our adventure flying out from London Gatwick with Norwegian on their premium class, which means you get a luxurious start with fast track security and access to the No 1 Lounge at the South Terminal, where you can sip a complimentary glass of fizz, wine, coffee, or whatever you want, and choose from some yummy hot and cold food options (I highly recommend the posh fish finger sandwich – perfect with a Prosecco) while waiting for your flight. I took the time to pop downstairs to the La Mer counter to indulge in the lovely ‘arrive hydrated’ treatment that I had at the Estee Lauder travel event back in February too.
If you remember, we flew to Boston with Norwegian last year and were really impressed with the Premium service. I love the comfy seats (they’re nearly 20″ wide) and the huge amount of legroom. It’s such a lovely way to enhance your holiday, and it doesn’t cost the earth either (literally – the Dreamliner is 20% more fuel efficient than traditional aircraft and Norwegian has been voted the most fuel efficient transatlantic airline). It’s also 10% faster, saving up to 30 minutes on a flight from London to New York. I especially love the service – the food is fab, and there’s no waiting if you need a drink – simply click on the touch screen menu and your order is brought straight to your seat.
We started our trip with a couple of days in the most incredible 8 bedroom Jeeves Florida Rentals Villa, with a gorgeous pool, dreamy kitchen and luxurious suites. In Kissimmee, I really enjoyed the outdoorsy lifestyle, and I’ve got loads of really fun recommendations, including ballooning (sadly our hot air balloon flight was cancelled as it was too windy), kayaking and much more, also some drop-dead gorgeous places to visit, like Celebration – a town I’ve wanted to visit for ages, and of course, Disney Springs.
Our next stop was to wonderful Clearwater, where we stayed at the brand new Wyndham Grand hotel, right on Clearwater beach, and explored the soft white sand beaches, as well as a local craft brewery, and spotted dolphins on a fabulous boat trip, as well as getting up close and personal with rescued dolphins at the Clearwater Marine Aquarium.
St Pete is just one of my favourite places, and we explored the iconic ‘pink palace’ of the roaring 20s, the pretty Don CeSar, as well as experiencing an evening in buzzing downtown St Pete and some of its amazing food scene, plus taking part in a guided walking tour of St Pete’s vibrant murals.
I can’t wait to show you everything that we experienced, but in the meantime, if you want to know anything else about flying Norwegian or visiting the area, do drop me a line, either via my contact form or find me on social media @englishmum and I’ll be happy to help!
As usual, I reserved airport parking with APH Meet & Greet parking – they’re so lovely, and I’ve got to know a lot of the drivers now. Norwegian have just announced a new agreement with APH, which means that Norwegian Reward members can now earn cost savings on Norwegian flights when booking APH’s car parking facilities at select airports across the UK too (visit www.norwegianreward.com for more details).
Norwegian fly to Orlando all year round, with three flights per week in the summer (Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday) and a Saturday flight in the winter. Fares start from just £179 one way in economy and £499 one way in Premium (including taxes and charges). For more information and to book, visit Norwegian.com/uk
