ENGLISH MUM IN THE PRESS

English Mum’s big bakeoff – the entries

Wow.  There’s been such a massive response to this latest bakeoff that my usual bout of slightly shouty hysteria in collating the results (I’m technologically challenged, okay?) has lasted much longer than normal.  I actually still think I’ve managed to delete one entry, so if you’ve entered and you can’t see your pic, please feel free to email me via the contact form (don’t shout at me, though, I’m delicate).  Still, buoyed by gin and a bit of sweariness, I’m there.  So without further ado, I give you the fabulous entries.  One of which will be winning a Bush BAFF55161S Frost Free Fridge Freezer in Silver, worth £359.99 courtesy of the lovely chaps at Argos.

So now it’s over to our glamorous judge and winner of the last bakeoff, Arlene from The Fuzzy Times.  All devious approaches and offers of bribery should be directed directly to her (I’m keeping out of it), and just in case you were thinking of rubbing me off your Christmas list, I’d just like to point out that I’m not involved in the judging process and the judge’s decision is final.

So sit back, grab a coffee and feast your eyes upon the cakey beauty below (click on the pic to get a bigger image).

What’s your favourite, then?

Ooooh! Aren’t they all gorgeous….and so clever….glad I’m not judging [but if I were I'd need just a taste of each one to finally decide!!].

  2. Wow, so many amazing entries! They all look fabulous, but I really like the cat & yarn ball one. So cute! Wish I knew about this before, I would have tried making something & submitting it. Whens the next challenge?

  3. TheGlutton says:

Crikey how is poor Arlene going to choose just one?!!! Brilliant entries…I love the butterfly cupcakes, very lickable, and the cat and yarn is fantastic.

I know, impossible! I do love the cupcakes, and I think the ruffly chocolate cake is amazing… but I like the Cookie Monsters…. decisions decisions…!

  4. Tamsin says:

I don’t envy the judge of this, how very hard that jobs going to be!
I love the cookie monster cupcakes, ooh and Ashleigh’s chocolate cake.
I think it’s a bit cruel of you to make a pregnant woman drool over so many delicious looking cakes;)

  5. Arlene says:

Woah! So many entries! And I want to eat them all!

This is going to be really tough…

  6. Bea Parkin says:

Obviously, apart from my own, very patriotic offering (Union Jack Cake), I love the ball of yarn and puddy tat cake! Good Luck Arlene!

  7. Wow so many fab entries. I like that one, and that one, and um, all of them really!

Good luck with that task Arlene!!

  8. Linda says:

Well done on all of this Becky – what a complete star you are. xx

  9. Kim says:

Wow, so many gorgeous entries! My humble Bakewells look so dull compared to everything else! I so do not envy the task of choosing the winner. The cookie monster ones are ace and the butterfly cupcakes so pretty, but I’m also loving all the ones with a patriotic theme! I will definitely have to up my game for the next one!

I think you’re going to have to split into an amateur and proffessional league. Some of these are so good. I still love cupcakes. Not to eat but they just look pretty.

    • English Mum says:

I know. I love a cupcake – I know people say they’re ‘over’ but I think they’re gorgeous. Going to do a massive pile of them for Moon’s bubba’s christening :)

Yum! Well done to all who entered, great job! I’m glad I wasn’t the judge, what a tough choice. I do, however, have a soft spot for the hedgehog entry – super cute!
