…today in the form of a few gorgeous bits from HomeSense. I love it now Mr E isn’t based up in Scotland any more. We had such a lovely weekend, full of walks and trashy telly and a delicious slow roasted lamb dinner (that the boys re-heated at approximately 11.30pm – I’ve given up trying to get them to have dinner with us every Sunday – their social lives are just too busy). We also had a lovely pootle around HomeSense on Saturday, trying to get a few ideas to warm up the house ready for a cosy Christmas. Here’s what I picked up…
There are a lot of rustic, wooden decorations in store at the moment (visit quickly because the best things tend to disappear – although then more lovely things appear so it’s swings and roundabouts). I love this giant, metallic wooden star, perfect for placing in a handy sunbeam to reflect the light on a cold winter morning. Also love this delicately scented, embossed pillar candle and these little glass Chesapeake Bay votive candles that come in a box of six, all perfectly sweetly spiced and vanilla-heavy (my preferred Christmas smell – although I can happily live with a spiced apple or cranberry).
I also invested in these fabulous, Christmassy knitted cushions – £25 each, but gloriously squishy and feather stuffed, plus a soft, soft throw (I love that Miss Lyra inserted herself perfectly into this picture without being asked). She wasn’t so happy when I added some terrifying tinsel-topped Christmas presents – this is two seconds before making her escape:
Also, I think I mentioned this in my hygge kitchen post recently, in a bit of re-purposing, I’ve managed to cosy up my kitchen workspace by adding this lovely linen throw to the kitchen table (it’s actually a single bedspread, but I love it in the kitchen, and I have ironed it since then, honest):
Good old HomeSense! We’ve decided to have a copper and white Christmas tree in the kitchen, so I’ll be going back very soon to bag some copper decorations from their lovely Christmas displays (again, keep going back, because they always seem to be restocking with new bits). I’m aiming for next weekend for the decorations. Not too early, right?
