I’m off to Universal Studios in Orlando tomorrow to experience their incredible holiday celebrations, including Grinchmas, which I’m especially excited about (I’m going to interview the Grinch!). Unlike most regular travellers, I actually don’t really mind flying, especially when it’s Virgin Atlantic, and as a tireless plotter and planner, I adore packing and getting ready to fly. Read more
The best thing about winter when you work from home is being able to snuggle up in a lovely warm jumper, light a candle that smells of Christmas pudding, make yourself a hot chocolate with extra marshmallows and sit in front of the fire all day, with a warm whippet for company. Unfortunately the aforementioned whippet also needs to stretch her legs, so my day is broken up with a couple of frosty walks, which actually I don’t mind, as long as I’m well wrapped up.
The Christmas shopping has begun in earnest, so I was delighted to discover a gorgeous new website that’s going to be verrrry handy indeed. Join up and tell Lyst your favourite shops and brands, and you can see them all in one place. Once you’re logged in, you choose which brands and shops you want to follow, save items to buy later and even flag items so Lyst will let you know when they’re on sale – genius! There are items from designer brands like JBrand, Gucci and Michael Kors and retailers like Zara, Selfridges, Asos, Topshop, John Lewis and The Outnet. The lovely people at Lyst asked me to choose a few of my faves, so I’ve chosen carefully, just in case Mr E is reading…
If you’re heading off on a winter holiday (lucky you!), it can often be difficult to track down everything you need. Bizarrely, swimwear only seems to be in the shops around May and then if you don’t grab the nice stuff it’s all gone again by summer, so if you’re going in November you’ve got no chance! Happily, the interwebs are here to soothe your woes, and if you hunt around you can get a bargain too!
We were talking at the weekend, over our long, leisurely Sunday lunch of slow roasted lamb (with all the trimmings) about how much we all love winter. We’re all agreed in this family that there’s nothing nicer than cosy evenings snuggled up at home with lots of soft throws, fluffy socks, scented candles, delicious food and a glass or two of something special. Well, it seems there’s a word for this! It’s called hygge (pronounced hoo-ga), and it’s a Danish concept meaning exactly that: cosiness, warmth and a sense of wellbeing.
I’ve been reading loads about Charlotte Tilbury‘s make up range, so I was delighted to receive an email from John Lewis to say that they’re now stocking the range. I was straight over to my terribly tempting mega-store in High Wycome to have a good old nose, and I’m glad to report that it’s all gloriously gorgeous.
As I mentioned recently, Boden are ON FIRE at the moment (not literally, I just mean their stuff is fantastic). If you haven’t experienced their fab new autumn/winter range, I’ve got the perfect excuse to order a few bits: a fabulous 20% off plus free delivery + free returns (excluding Boden Icons range) from today just until Sunday! *Update – there’s now a new 25% off code from now until Tuesday 29th!)
So yesterday I got dressed up and headed to London for the Cruise International Cruise Awards 2015. It’s one of the highlights of the year for the cruise industry and all the big players turn up to find out if they’ve won a gong! I wore my hush stripy Jessica dress with a denim jacket and a Zara scarf, and made myself laugh by sticking my heels in my handbag and putting on my trainers for the commute:
Ahhh I love September! As much as I love the sunshine, I think there’s something really special about the promise of frosty mornings, cuddly jumpers, scented candles, red wine and crunchy leaves, plus there’s so much lovely stuff about in the shops with all the new autumn/winter 2015 collections.
I’m SO impressed with this season’s Boden collection. I think Boden has really turned a corner, from the domain of the yummy mummy to a brave new British classic. I love the eclectic styles and the sixties touches and there are so many things I want, it’s going to be difficult to keep it to a sensible amount to show you.
Every time I go on holiday, I just bung my whole make-up bag in my suitcase, but honestly, once I’m there, I only use a tiny amount of it. This time, I decided that I was going to carry on the good work I’ve done with my capsule holiday wardrobe, by applying the same theory to my make-up bag.
I’m SO excited about all the new autumn/winter 2015 collections I’m seeing. It’s funny isn’t it, how after thinking of nothing but bikinis and straw bags for weeks and weeks, all of a sudden we just turn our backs on it all and start oohing and aahing over coats, chunky leather boots and gorgeous knitwear.
Well hello there! I’m finally home after a busy few weeks of travelling: Paris, Barbados and finally Gran Canaria. I’ve had an awesome time and I’ve got loads to tell you and loads of recommendations, but before this summer is completely over, I wanted to tell you all about the products that worked really well (and some that didn’t). So here goes with my summer holiday skincare roundup:
If you’re heading off on holiday shortly, now is a great time to get some beachwear bargains in the summer sales, with loads of great offers available at different retailers.
I’m still mad about everything blue this summer. If you base your wardrobe around one colour when packing for holiday, it makes everything so easy! Here’s a little roundup of all the beautiful summer blues I’ve been adding to my wishlist recently.
We’ve been having a little try of a very clever new toothbrush. The Nano-b toothbrush is very different to ordinary toothbrushes, and we’re all quite addicted to the lovely feeling they give you after brushing.
