As usual, while I should be working, I’m actually internet shopping but this time it’s because there are loads of mid-season sales and lovely new pieces about.
So this week, I was lucky enough to head up to London to the very stylish hush homewear offices to rummage through their gorgeous new spring/summer 2015 collection AND to sneak a top secret look at their high summer beachwear collection (their first ever foray into swimwear) – more of this soon! I adore hush. I love that fact that the clothes are beautiful and comfortable, plus on-trend without trying too hard. I think as you grow up, you feel more comfortable finding your own style, rather than slavishly following fashion. I always find that hush clothing really reflects this philosophy.
So before Christmas, I told you that I was going to be trying out Seven Seas new Perfect7 Woman – it’s a blend of Omega-3 rich marine oils, and vitamins and minerals especially formulated to provide benefits for women in 7 key areas such as skin, nails and air, as well as supporting hormonal activity, brain function, vision and heart health. So how did I get on?
Happy Sunday! I hope you’re having a wonderful weekend. We’ve mostly slobbed around, eaten cake, signed the contracts ready to exchange on our house (YAY!), splurged in Majestic Wine (this Stag’s Leap ‘Karia’ Chardonnay was buy two, save £10), stroked our gorgeous little furball family and started prepping for our next painting project: Sam’s bedroom (feature wall dark grey, other walls silvery grey).
I’ve got my first trip coming up very soon, a cruise on the gorgeous Disney Dream – one of my favourite ships, so I thought it would be a good time to stock up on some of the summer stuff that’s inevitably in the sales:
Well hello there! I hope you had a wonderful Christmas day. We had a small gathering as Mr E is working until 28th so our proper festivities will start there. The turkey turned out really well, though, and despite setting the table (and the floor) on fire with over-exuberant use of vodka when lighting the pudding, all went really well.
As a mum (and I speak from experience here), there’s nothing nicer than opening a pressie containing lovely pampering stuff that you might think twice about splashing out on yourself.
In this Big Christmas Gift Guide, I’ve brought together a few lovely treats that will make you, your mum/your wife/your sister feel fabulous, because, hey, they deserve it.
Lucky you! There’s a brand new Boden discount code live right now. From now until Thursday 13th November 2014 you can get a fantastic 25% off voucher code, plus free delivery. Hurry to Boden right now by clicking on the pic below and using code W8V4
Now as I’ve told you before, I’m a jeans and jumpers girl (shorts and t-shirts in the summer). I’ve got a few lovely events coming up, though, that are going to require poshing up a bit, so whilst lusting after all the new snuggly autumn stuff, I’ve got my eye out for a few smart bits and bobs too. John Lewis have just launched their autumn fashion magazine too – so here’s the top five things on my wishlist (when I’ve finally started stocking the EU pasta mountain and buying things like Oyster Cards for Sam):
You know I’m a HUGE Boden fan right? I love their great quality basics, I’m more than a little taken with their beautiful leather handbags and shoes, plus their dresses are lush. So, yeah, just obsessed really. If you’re already a convert, then this code will fill you with a happy, Friday feeling. And if you’re not? Pop over and have a look – what better time to experiment than when there’s 20% off and free delivery AND returns?
So after all the begging and pleading, yesterday I finally got to slip on my new favourite LBD (thank you, Mint Velvet) and my gorgeous sparkly new necklace from Alice’s Wonders, lash a load of concealer over my hideous jetlaggy eye bags, and head off to London for the Cruise International Cruise Awards 2014.
So this morning, I trudged around the field with the dog in the rain wearing a fleece, a waterproof jacket, and a hat. What on earth happened to the summer? Usually, I resist even looking at anything remotely knitted or warm until at least September, but the emails are starting to arrive, and I have to say, I’m loving what I’m seeing. The new autumn/winter preview from Hush Homewear definitely got my attention, with loads of gorgeous autumnal casual wear really catching my eye (I tend to live in jeans and jumpers):
This week, Mr English and I decided to head to Bicester Village for a spot of shopping. I like Bicester – we have a bit of lunch or a coffee in Pret or in the little Jamie Oliver place, then pootle around around looking for bargains. There were still plenty of summer brights available in the sales and I discovered that I’m still totally in love with everything orange.
Summer’s in full swing, so not being a fashionista-type person (who are presumably all used to it), I find it baffling that everyone is selling all the lovely summer stuff off! I love a bargain, so here are my top 10 utterly gorgeous and completely bargainous finds from my favourite websites:
So recently I got invited to a very swish private screening of the third series of Sky Living’s drama, Scandal. If you’re not already hooked (bet you are), it stars the gorgeous Kerry Washington (who we all remember most as the blind lady who dated The Thing in the Fantastic Four, but who was also amazing in Django Unchained), as White House fixer Olivia Pope. It’s full of intrigue, secrets and cover-ups and is seriously good.
So how did the evening pan out? I’m not sure you’ll believe it…
So recently me and the Mr were out shopping. He’s actually one of those men that’s really good at shopping. He’s not a ‘stand outside the shop looking awkward’ kind of man, he’s a ‘get stuck in and have a rummage’ one. He has an opinion. He’ll tell you if he thinks something suits me (not that I always take his advice, obviously) and he’ll also be honest if something doesn’t (brutally, occasionally – he’s been known to make me cry, but that was years ago, he’s learned to be a bit more tactful these days).
At the end of May, I undertook a little facial maintenance with my lovely laser therapist, Melissa at Disappear Ltd in Milton Keynes. Melissa is removing my hideous tattoo, and I’ve become a bit obsessed with all the other little bits and bobs she does there for skin rejuvenation. I started with a session of Meso Vytal micro needling. One month on, and with two very sunny weeks in Florida and the Caribbean in between, I’m still pretty pleased with the results. I found the Meso Vytal very good for evening out my skin tone (I have quite a lot of Melasma – skin pigmentation, especially across my forehead), and with daily application of a good quality sunblock, I was feeling good about my skin. Good enough, I told her, to go without foundation ALL THE TIME – unheard of for me.
