When you’re packing for holidays, you don’t want to lug your entire beauty routine with you in your case. One: it takes up loads of room and two: it’s a holiday! Time for a pared down, simple beauty routine that gives you more time to have fun. This weekend I’m heading to Walt Disney World Resort Florida with my birthday boy, Charlie, who is 18 tomorrow (I KNOW!) so I thought I’d share my thoughts on beauty essentials for the parks: just enough to keep you looking glowy and gorgeous ready for those selfies with Minnie Mouse (oh, you bet I’ll be stalking her, she’s my fave!).
It’s hot, hot, hot in Orlando at this time of year, so you’ll need really effective sun protection that’s going to last. I’m obsessed with Ultrasun at the moment , and what could be more perfect for a Disney princess (cough) than a little bit of pixie dust in your sun protection? Ultrasun Glimmer SPF50 shimmering sun protection for sensitive skin gives your limbs a light sheen which is really flattering, plus really effective sun protection which lasts all day.
I’ll also be taking a 50ml bottle of Nuxe Huile Prodigieuse Nourishing Dry Oil for Body & Hair – I read an article about this product recently where the reviewer said it made her skin ‘feel like kittens’ and it’s so true! A couple of drops massaged into your skin after cleansing (I’m still in love with my Mild Liquid Facial Soap) before moisturiser leaves your skin soft, plump and glowy, without any greasy residue. I always smooth my hands through my hair after applying too, it’s great for smoothing frizz.
For the face, I’ve got Ultrasun Face SPF 30 tinted anti-ageing sun protection for very sensitive skin, 50ml, which goes on evenly and gives a light colour which is perfect for the water parks (or the beach) when you don’t want to be covered in make up, plus Benefit They’re Real mascara and Ultrasun’s lip balm which has SPF30.
For the evenings, I’ll be smoothing on another glow-giving wonder, Chanel’s Les Beiges Healthy Glow Foundation (I’m on my second bottle of this stuff), and adding a light dusting of Mac Prep and Prime transparent finishing powder, which looks weirdly white but goes on completely clear. I add a bit of Clarins Cream Blush just on the apples of my cheeks (it has a lovely brightening effect) and a sweep of eyeliner – L’Oreal’s Superliner Superstar eye liner, which is like a felt pen and SO easy to use. My niece Amy recently bought me one of the Marc Jacobs lippies that I’ve been coveting, so I’ll be taking that for a pop of Minnie Mouse red!
My final recommendation is Bumble and Bumble’s new Surf Infusion spray. My hair’s naturally quite fine and a bit frizzy, so I can add a couple of spritzes of this stuff before drying and it really makes a difference. If I’m using a curling wand, I’ll add a spray or two afterwards to define the waves and add a bit of texture. Lovely stuff.
Add anti-perspirant/cleanser and your other essentials and you’re basically good to go – that’s one bag of stuff for an entire week and much more time out in the parks and having fun! I’ll be popping them all in my Catseye ‘believe’ frog prince wash bag from John Lewis, which makes me smile every time I use it:
