If you’ve just arrived – welcome! Read on to find out a little bit more about English Mum 🙂
About the blog:
Englishmum.com is an award-winning mix of authentic, family travel experiences; stylish home and lifestyle articles; fresh, home made food, and shopping with an emphasis on thoughtful spending on quality pieces that last. English Mum is one of the longest-established blogs (live since 1996), a top 10 Travel and Tourism Blog and one of the Top 100 influencers, 2016. Amongst these pages you’ll find beautiful hotels and fabulous restaurants, but no ‘reviews’, just stories of our own experiences.
I’m a 40-something mum of two strapping lads, and wife to Jim, a helicopter pilot. I work from home on this blog and also as a freelance writer (click the ‘my work’ section to see a selection) and Contributing Editor of Cruise International. In my spare time (ahaha) I’m an enthusiastic cook and food lover.
I’m mad about wine, crazy about travel and apart from a small group of my very close and adored friends, I’m rather unsociable (I like my own company – possibly a throwback from hours spent fielding in the sea during childhood beach cricket games: ‘go deep! No, deeper!’). I have a crippling inability to self-edit and a love of beaches (it’s the smell and the sand-between-the-toes), lip balm and cruise ships. I am a Disney nut (ask me anything!), keen baker and photography addict.
More about us:
Like us, Sam, 22 and Charlie, 19, are mad on travelling and love to explore new places. We also love to eat out (or indeed eat in). After several years living in Ireland, we’re now back home in Buckinghamshire. We share English Towers with our slightly neurotic whippet, Lyra.
