A shining star of wonderful gorgeousness

Competition: win a mahoosive Fotowall!

Okay, so this is quite possibly the most fabulously, amazingly brilliant competition I’ve ever run.

Think about a photo you really love: a treasured picture of the kids, maybe? A beautiful beach scene?  Or maybe it’s trees that float your boat?  A fabulous sunset?  Or maybe you’re a photographer and have created an amazing image?  Maybe there’s just one photo that always makes you smile?

Now, picture that favourite photo adorning a whole wall in your house.  Imagine the possibilities!  And if you don’t have the exact photo in mind, the lovely people at Myfotowall have tons of stock images.  So if you fancy a fluttery feather on your bedroom wall (I love this one), just say the word.

Down to business, then.  Being as creative as you like, leave a comment telling me which photo you would choose to adorn your wall and why, and you could win a 4m x 2m wall, worth up to £400 of your very own.  Be as creative as you like (but if you rent your house, remember to ask your landlord first.  Heh.)

Off you go, then.

The small print:

Myfotowall.com – the company that can transform your most treasured photos into larger than life wall coverings is offering one English Mum reader a unique wallscape worth £400, for free.

The ultra simple process involves simply uploading the dimensions of the wall you want to cover, be it your bedroom, bathroom or nursery wall, and your selected hi-res picture. If you need to crop and scale your image then the Myfotowall website provides you with the tools to do so.Your desired image can be scaled up to 16x its original size and still have amazing quality.  Myfotowall will deliver the pre-cut lengths of top quality, washable, vinyl wallpaper printed with your picture, together with a hanging guide customised to your environment.

Glad Thomas can’t read that! He’d want to stick his arse on the wall ;)

  2. TheMadHouse says:

Wow, what a wonderful, nah amazing prise. I would love this. I would have an image of the seaside on the wall in my dining room. I love my dining room, it is firmly the centre of our home after the kitchen. Our house is pretty open plan and the we dont have a hall, so you wall through all the rooms to get to another and the dinning room is physically the centre of the home.

We all eat in there, we craft in their, sit and chat, do homeowkr. If MadDad is working from home he is at the dinning table, so there is a wall that is crying out for some adornment.

I have a great image if the boys coming out of the sea at Sandsend and that would look fantastic there. I love the sea

  3. Littlemummy says:

Great comp, I’d probably let Erin have the foto wall and let her choose a photo she’d like – we may have to take more pics from which to choose (we don’t have many pink sparkly type photos!)

    • English Mum says:

Good idea, Erica – I think if I won (and obviously I’m excluded) I’d have a huge pink cupcake across a whole wall in my kitchen (Husband is thanking his lucky stars that I’m not allowed!!) x

  4. Karen Kirk says:

We’ve just visited the Blue Reef Aquairium, Southsea where dad showed off his photographic talent and took some brill pics. So i’d probably like an aquatic themed wall.

  5. oooo one of our wedding photos that was taken at Trim Castle. How cool would that be?????

  6. Well, as I said on Twitter, I would LOVE a giant picture of Simon Baker on our bedroom wall but it might inhibit hubby SO, we have some lovely photos from Paris that I would readily choose but maybe I’d find (or take) a new family picture and put it on our lounge wall.
    Thanks lovely! ;)
    Karin

  7. If I had a picture of a black hole I would have tht done and put it in my boys room!! lol no need to explain why .. the picture speaks volums hhehehe xx

how many times can u enter ..lol I have loads of ideas x

  8. Baino says:

Oh don’t be silly. What would people say about a giant labrador donning my bedroom wall! I love the feather though. . very soporific. Great comp but I’ll spare you delivery to Australia. Good luck punters!

  9. audreyhorne says:

What a wonderful competition! I am trying to put thoughts of a giant Adrian Pasdar (Nathan from Heroes) out of my head. I think it would not go down well with the other members of the household…

Apart from Nathan, I would love a picture of Elterwater in the Lake District. When I was poorly, I had some hypnotherapy to chill me out and this is where I used to go. It was my magical place.

It would certainly banish the nighttime bad thoughts if I could have this beautiful scene in my bedroom. And it might inspire the other half to book us a romantic trip away in the Lakes *dreams*

  10. Elly Parker says:

I have a gorgeous, slightly recessed wall in the kitchen that would be perfect for this. Bizarrely, I’ve always wanted a picture of my friends, sitting round a table in a nice, homey restaurant, charging their glasses at me as I took the photo. That way, every time you sat down to dinner your friends would be with you, virtually sharing the meal. It would certainly make me eat at the table more often!

  11. Emma says:

That is amazing! Even if I dont win that is definitely something I want to look into!
We still have not got round to decorating Oli’s room or our room so this could be the perfect thing to add some colour to them. But I just wouldn’t be able to decide what photo to have – Would Oli really like a huge mummy & daddy looking over him as he slept?
Would Daddy let Mummy have a huge Johnny Depp looking over them as they slept? Hmmm… :)

  12. moon says:

    Don’t let DBM enter !!!!!!

I have so many photos that are rubbish, but I love… I am not too sure I could pick one …..

    • English Mum says:

I love that sunny one I linked to. One of my faves… and the dog with the snowy nose that you took..

      • moon says:

Thank you for that link, it’s a very special one for us, that was our beach for a walk whenever we wanted.. I also have a black n white one of our dogs nose… oooh, and I’ll email you another fav … x

  13. What an amazing prize!! Loves it!

I’d have to pick an amazing sunset photograph for mine and Maxi’s bedroom, so calming and peaceful.

I think that after such stressful days that nothing would be more perfect than falling asleep to that. Mmmmmmmm

  14. carolinesweetie says:

My entry would be a very simple photo. It is of my two boys 18mths ago. It is a view of the two of them from behind them while they are sitting on the grass with shadows in the foreground. It is bright and colourful and brings back happy memories, big and little brother.

  15. There are some great ideas here already. I guess George Clooney during the ER years on wall beside my bed looking down at me with that cheeky grin of his is out of question?
What I would love to do is use a collage of the kids and us as a family over the years. I have one that I did that hangs in my downstairs loo. The pics are cut in to different shapes and overlap etc. Lots of them laughing and even better me looking young! If that would work it would be great.
Otherwise one pic of all of us. In the kitchen of course. Where family life takes place.
    Great prize btw.

  16. Emily O says:

I’d like a photo on my wall of what it would like if the wall wasn’t there. So the room would only appear to have three walls. Having this in the bedroom would be good, it would make me worry I was going to fall out of bed and out onto the driveway.

  17. Heather says:

I think a view of the lake that we should have had from our living room if some idiot hadn’t built the house the wrong way around so that you can only see the lake from the bedroom window – you know, the room you mostly go in to close your eyes! sigh!

Although i expect they wont want to send that all the way to Finland. Still, nice to imagine!

  18. TattieTats says:

What a neat idea! I would love to have a photo that my son took on one of my walls. It is an abstract picture of the fall leaves that won in his school’s photography contest. It is really quite beautiful and I think it would make his day to have it blown up so large and prominently displayed in our home. I’m not sure whether I would opt for the hallway or for a wall in my bedroom. While I’d like to wake up “under the trees,” I’m sure he’d like his artwork to be on display for all to see.

  19. Susie says:

I would have a photo of me and my daughter (who is now 12). Probably one from when she was a bit younger.

I would want to put it on the wall near her bed.

She is a little upset that her 3 year old sister moved in with her. I wanted to redo her room a bit and make it special. I noticed that she took a picture of me and her and stuck it on the wall near her bed, so I thought she would really love something special like this.

I am in Israel, but if it is a problem I have friends in the UK that it can be shipped to and they will bring it to me….if I win that is. :-)

  20. Cath says:

I would choose a photo of my 3 french bulldogs Bundy, Lydia and Tillie (BLT). They’re not allowed to sleep in our bed anymore and I miss their squishy faces and their snoring. I even miss them shoving me into a corner. If I had their picture blown up on my bedroom wall they could be with me again as I fall asleep. :)

  21. Odd as it may sound, and it may sound odd, I’d probably go for a stunning picture of the Pennines. A little different I know.

  22. Drina Murphy says:

What a great idea! I had a look at their website and their samples look amazing! I’m actually in the middle of decorating my eldest sons room. He must have the smallest room in the world, bless him. Short of an extension or moving (none of which are feasible) he has to lump it!;) It would be great to put up some kind of doorway or window as an illusion of more space, failing that, a nice skyline like this: http://www.istockphoto.com/stock-photo-1087563-manhattan-panorama.php

    • English Mum says:

Hey Drina. My son has the same problem. We’ve got one of those ridiculous houses where there are two big bedrooms and one teeny one! I love the Manhattan one, it’s fabulous.

  23. My flower would work quite well, wouldn’t it – although I have to say that I might go with the natural white one, otherwise I would end up with a very purple themed room!
Can Canadians enter? it would need rather a large poster tube, wouldn’t it?

  24. Laura says:

I’d find it hard to pick … but I’m sure I’d manage it!

  25. Jo Beaufoix says:

Ohhh, I’d love a picture with shots of my two girls perhaps aged at maybe 2, 4, and then the ages they both are now. It would be like watching them grow before my eyes and would just make us all smile every day. I’d have it on the upstairs landing going into their room. Maybe we could even find a way to stick different outfits over them so they’d be like massive dress up dolls. It would cheer up a very dull wall. :D

  26. TattieTats says:

Yeah, I was wondering if I could possibly win, since I’m in the US? Also, when are you going to draw? I’m on the edge of my seat!

  27. Alot of my friends are moving on to the next stages of their lives with partners and children on the horrizon. I would love to have a BBQ on the beach or park, have a photographs of us all and use it on our kitchen wall.

It is likely that the next 12 months will see my best friend moving far far away.

A picture like this would be a lovely reminder of our lives together and remind us that our futures are because of how we lived in the past.

  28. Kelly says:

I have some photos I took on the beach in Cornwall at dawn which have the most amazing warm colour to them. I would put that on my bedroom wall so I could wake up to that colour every morning.

  29. carolinesweetie says:

Entry no 2. We stayed in an apt 18mths ago that had a jacuzzi in the bath. we put way to much bubble bath in and the bubbles were everywhere. My two boys got into the bath and the eldest made bubble hair for both of the. The photo is on of them in this bath and the only thing visible is their (clean – makes a change) faces because there are so many bubbles.

  30. carolinesweetie says:

Entry no 3. Youngest was 6mths old. Eldest was 6yrs old, wearing a red t shirt with a funny monkey face on it. The youngest who was still a baby was sitting beside the eldest on a chair and clocked this monkey on the Tshirt and was amazed. The wall would be this picture, the 6yr old laughing and the 6mth old astounded by his brothers tshirt, not realising what it was.

  31. I would pick a beautiful, calm swan photo that I took in a park in SW London. The swan is so calm and water droplets sparkle on her feathers. One shiny tear of water is dripping from her bill as she glides past. Why do I need this calm swan on my wall?

Well since last July 2009 I have: quit my job, moved out of a rented house in London, into a new one in Yorkshire, started living with my boyfriend for the first time, bought a crazy naughty kitten, started my PR business which is very busy, moved out of rented accomodation, bought a lovely house, plastered and decorated two rooms and created an office so I can run my business from home…

I really need that swan in my new, lovely office to help me relax when I am working…

  32. Vicky says:

Oh thats a deadly idea, I’d luv a massive pic of a waterfall in living room(of my imaginary house)do you think they might give me a house if i won it!! Or either took great pics up at the giants causeway last year, really stormy so waves bashing off the rocks, luv the sea on rough day!
PS.Hope maths teacher got lines to write aswell xx

  33. Amy Lane says:

Wow, those look amazing! I’ve never seen anything like it. I’m redecorating my bedroom and would have a lovely tree picture to fit in with my curtains. I can just imagine it now….. :)

  34. Joanne says:

I’m thinking Robbert Downey Jnr. would look particularly great on my bedroom wall (moreso on my bed..)But I’m not sure himself would approve.
I would pick a photo that my OH took of our hometown at dusk, we’re in Cobh Co. Cork and it’s the most beautiful place in the world, especially in that photo :)

  35. Kerrie says:

I would love to win this for my sister she loves photography

  36. Josephine says:

We get so much rain here and the last couple of summers have been bad. So it would be nice to have a sunny scene with the METAL MAN IN THE BACKGROUND AND LOOKING AT A CALM SEA WITH A GLORIOUS SKY
