A shining star of wonderful gorgeousness

Sour Grapes? Not likely.

Clos-du-Val

So this is really clever.  Lovely Lar, over at Ireland’s best wine blog, Sour Grapes , has taken different recipes from various Irish food bloggers nominated for the Irish Blog Awards, and matched them with some rather outstanding wine choices.

To accompany my Sunday lunch of beef stew with fluffy parsley dumplings.  Lar suggests a Clos du Val Cabernet Sauvignon coming in at a breathtaking €27.49, but hey, as Lar points out it would be perfect for a special weekend dinner.  And anyway, staying in is the new going out, don’t they say?

Hey, I meant tot tell you that I followed your recipe for this but without dumplings. It was ultradeliciosa, thank you.

  2. English Mum says:

Aidan: Really? Excellent. I do like it when people try the recipes and enjoy them. Thanks!

  3. Mum, isn’t that funny… you are getting the clos du val cheaper in Ireland than I can buy it here in the states… our tax structure is so messed up … we even have old folks going to canada to buy their prescription drugs because they can get them cheaper even figuring in the time and gas expenses. Hope you are well… from indiana, USA…I am mTew

MTW: Really? Wow, there’s something not right about your own stuff being cheaper in another country than it is at home. We’re a bit like that being so close to the NI border – everthing’s so much cheaper there.

I’d be lost if I had to choose a French wine other than the bubbly stuff. Actually Jacobs Creek is cheaper over there than here as well! Overtaxed we are on wine and spirits. . . as for the dumplings and stew . . defo on the winter warmer list unless it’s nice cold a la vichyssois

Baino: I have to say that we drink loads of Aussie wine: Banrock Station, Jacob’s Creek, Hardy’s etc. I’ll send you some if you like :)

Great little post by Lar alright – I think I got a choice of red and white suggestions to go with some stinky cheese. I shall have to look them up!
