I think they're planning a big party, with all their mates and a keg and all sorts of goings on. Hoolies. Jay: Yes, housemartins. Not content with nesting outside our bedroom window and bloody twittering all the time they've now invited their mates to lodge in the garage. Thrifty: Erm, I think it might have been turning the tumble drier on that pissed them off. They weren't at all happy, I can tell you. One came so close I thought it was going to smack me on the back of the head! Bugs: I love watching the swallows here in the evening when they're attracted by all the midges that come up in clouds from the lough. The housemartins are just bloody yobs though - they divebomb all the other birds minding their own business on the lawn, and me when I'm out walking with Bert (they really don't like Bert). Yes, I have got a new whirly clothesdryer but unfortunately it's stuck in the hole that's made for the parasol in the garden table as it has no stake. And anyway, this is Cavan. We have swallows nesting under our eaves - amazing really, since the house is only 6 months old. Tessie's new favourite hobby is to sit by the window on her cat tree watching them fly by.
