A shining star of wonderful gorgeousness

Getting to know you…

Sincere, grovelling apologies to Lord Kitchener

So I’ve been suffering from a bit of bloggal diarrhoea the past couple of days, what with the Angry Bulldozer Lady and Bert being, well, Bert.  Then Nats sends me one of those doofers where you have to answer a load of questions and I thought…ooh, I’ll pass it on to the folks.  So here are the questions.  Copy and paste them along with your answers into the comments, or email me your answers and I’ll put them up for you.  So come on, all you ‘lurkers’ who read but don’t comment – this is your chance to stand up and be counted.  Righty ho, then:

There.  Easy peasy.  Think of it like one of those ‘turn to your left and find out something interesting about the person sitting next to you’ things that they get you to do at conferences.  Well, what are you waiting for?  Get to it!

  8. James: Welcome! Ahh, your four favourite foods are classic! Fish and Chips with Mushy Peas, Chinese Takeaway, crisps and Indian Takeaway – I think I might change mine now – yum! Oh, and the Coinstar machine? When we were kids, some of them (not me, obviously, I’m far too safety conscious) used to put 2p coins on the edge of the traintracks so when the train came past it used to cut them in half. I’ve still got one somewhere! x

Thrifty: ‘Black Underpants Down’ won it for me ;0)

Ruth: Mmmm honey chilli chicken sounds rather good. And working in Macs? Blimey! x

Loops: Welcome! You do realise that you are contractually obliged to comment every day now don’t you? Ooh, I’ve been to Egypt too – some Red Sea place called Taba. The hotel was brand new and completely empty, which was all rather weird. Nice, though x

  9. Loops says:

EnglishMum – I stayed in Na’ama Bay, Sharm el Sheikh. In the very hotel that was bombed a few years ago. They did rebuild it :)

  10. Loops: Blimey – I remember that bombing, it was just after we stayed there. Have you ever been back?

  11. Loops says:

Aah you misunderstand. We have stayed in that hotel since it was bombed. Twice. Returned from latest visit last Thursday. They have really tight security at all hotels now – barriers that won’t allow vehicles any access onto grounds. Metal detector walk through things at Reception doors (tourists don’t have to use them). I’ve been to Sharm 3 times now and highly recommend it – especially for a winter sun holiday

  12. Loops: Ahhh, sorry, I thought you meant years ago. I’d definitely go back: tried scuba and loved it, and great weather as I recall :0)

  32. Susan: Ooh yes, you can get a helicopter trip!

Bugs: America’s Next Top Model?????? Hang your head in shame, girl. Oh, and don’t you have to be a man to be a postman?? x

Jen! Good, you’re back, I’ve been suffering from recipe deficiency. How was Lisbon?? x

J: McEejit!! LOL!! Maker of probes for missiles? There’s a joke in there somewhere – give me time. Aah, long chats about absolutely nothing – Hubby was moaning about our little belter this morning – I think we managed 35 minutes – impressive, huh? xxxx

  33. Jennynib says:

Ha! More like 45 but I suppose deleting the ‘Omigods’ knocks off about 10 minutes…

Oh, yes. The missile probes. I was a fully paid up member of Amnesty International at the time, too. Conflict of interest? Moi? How did they think I afforded the subscription?!

Tut, tut, Bugs. ANTM is The Devil. (albeit horribly addictive) :O

  34. jen says:

Lisbon was fab – apart from the work side of things, which is unfortunately why I was there in the first place… Still, we had one afternoon off, so I went out and stuffed my face with pastries :-) Will have a full write-up on the blog soon(ish)

  35. Taffy's Mum says:

Susan: We did the Canyon when we were last in Vegas – talk about Awesome! I also have to point out that it was the first and LAST time OH will ever get into a helicopter as he hated every second we were in it. He felt so rough when we landed in the Canyon that he couldn’t face the champagne picnic they provided so I had his share of champagne hic ;)

  36. J: Hubby reckons he knows when I’m on the phone to you instantly because he hears ‘OHMIGOD!!’ echoing round the house! Amnesty International? I bet you got accosted by one of the great unwashed in some high street waving a clipboard at you, didn’t you? xxx

Jen: OOh pastries! Look forward to the write up for that one x

TM: Hubby’s mate J went out to Vegas for the Ricky Hatton fight and did the helicopter thing over the Canyon. It was mighty windy, but obviously being a pilot he was fine, merrily taking pictures and chatting away, before turning round to realise that all his mates were green and groaning and not having quite as much fun!!

  37. To All – I agree about ANTM – I told you I couldn’t explain why I watch it.
To EM – I deliberately said postman, since I feel it insults my intellect by suggesting that I can’t cope with the ending “man” and changing all endings to “woman” for females. I don’t care about the word – so long as I have equality in the important things in life such as wages, hiring, promotions etc. And if anyone dare tell me I can’t do something because I might get PMT, well, you don’t want to see what might happen, especially if I do have PMT at the time!

  38. DBM: The Disreputable One, as much as I love the very bones of him, has this habit of not listenining when you’re cross, because ‘oh, time of the month is it?’ Grrr. Drives me crackers. You go girl. Take it you don’t say ‘personhole’ either? lol xx

  39. Martin says:

That is a spectacular response O English Mother, Congratulations. This makes comment number 40, I sometimes get that much in a month!

  40. No, I don’t say personhole very often – arsehole perhaps, but not personhole :~O

  41. SUSAN B says:

Actually, I meant motoring to the Grand Canyon – I wouldn’t get into one of the tourist ‘copters if there was a gun at my head!! Too many of them CRASH! So glad you lived to tell about it -LOL. Driving to the north rim and looking down into that cavernous maw is truly spiritual!

  42. Martin: 43!!! This is my absolute best. Twenty Major once got about 400 comments on one post, so I’ve got a way to go yet x

DBM: Heh. I’m developing a nice Irish lilt to the word ‘arrrrsehole’ these days. SO much more satisfying x

Susan: I’m desperate to go! Never even been to America. Oh and Hawaii is on our list too. We could pop in for tea x
