Well, that’s my time up. Hopefully I’ll be back up and running shortly because I’ve got tons to tell you. Hubby’s lovely family have been visiting, and we took a fantastic trip to see the lovely J at the dogs too - Hubby presented a prize and it was all very exciting, but I’ll leave that for my next instalment. Until then, don’t go away!! xx

Well, what can I say, it was FAB! The lovely R and the ever-gorgeous C turned up via Mr Ryanair on the Friday evening (we’d only moved into our house on the Thursday so the poor things had to slum it slightly - the blinds not being delivered until the following Tuesday was somewhat of an issue so I had to stick some old curtains I’d found up at the window - it was hardly the Ritz), and we kicked off our big girly weekend with enough cocktails to make them feel revoltingly sick. I was just so pleased to see them I was adamant that I wanted them to taste my whole repertoir, so we started off with White Ladies and went on to Sea Breezes, Frozen Cranberry Daquiris, and just so they didn’t start to keel over, I fed them a selection of curries, including Red Thai Prawns, a green Thai chicken curry, and a nice hot Dhansak for hubby. #1 and #2 had made chocolate fudge mousse, cunningly disguised as cups of coffee with whipped cream in little teacups, which went down a bomb too.

The next morning, nursing surprisingly light hangovers, we had a light breakfast of..er..chocolate and almond muffins, pancakes and all sorts of other stodge, and got ready for the Spa. B had completely fallen in love with both R & C, following them round lovingly the entire visit, and while we were lying around chatting, she serenaded C with a lovely song, interspersed with little yappy barks, just to tell her how much she loved her. When we got there, the Spa had us speechless - not only was it beautiful, but it was all soft lighting, beautiful flickering candles and the whole place smelt delicious. We were introduced to our therapists, who were very sweet and quite a good laugh luckily. All the therapies are based on organic Thai ingredients. First off was the fantastic Yothai anti-ageing facial. R reported that C had slept the whole way over on the plane, so we weren’t entirely surprised when she could recall little of the facial either - that girl can sleep on a sixpence! We all reported feeling slightly uncomfortable having our feet washed by our therapists, but apparently it’s an important part of the whole Thai set up, which was absolutely fab. Next up, we were treated to a fantastic lunch, at a beautiful table on the balcony overlooking the lake, set with lovely linen and crystal and a nice, discreet ‘reserved’ sign (still in our ‘temple food’ moment, we obviously chose a whopping great cheeseburger and some very nice fat chips) which was washed down with a bottle of pink Champagne, a little pressie from Hubby (well, he said get what you want…). We were further surprised when the lady from the spa walked in with boxes of chocolates and bottles of fizz, also from Hubby (I was starting to get suspicious that he was trying to do a bit of ‘aren’t I wonderful’ point-scoring with my mates, but I didn’t let on). He is actually quite wonderful, but us girls need to keep such things under our hats don’t we - in case they catch on and stop trying.

Anyway, now stuffed with carbs and slightly giggly due to the champagne, we went back to the delicious smelling spa for our next treatment, the rather evil but also weirdly wonderful ‘deep tissue massage’. Now, because I was the only one that whimped out and had to ask the girl to be gentle, I got vast amounts of stick. However, I’m firmly of the opinion that my therapist was severely heavier handed that the other two (needless to say I got even more stick for that) and anyway, C probably slept through hers so how would she know?! Finally, we had the lovely exfoliating hand ritual, with us all in the same room having the treatment at the same time. This caused much hilarity, but was a great ending to our day. The Spa isn’t completely finished, but we’d definitely go back for another day when the thermal therapy suite and swimming pool are up and running so…watch this space!

That evening, we chilled out with a bit more fizz and some grilled salmon, champ and a bit more fizz. We sat and had a lovely chat, reliving our spa day (well, the bits that C could remember) and generally catching up on old times. The next morning, breakfast seemed barely over when we had to drop the girls back to the airport. I must admit to a little tear as I drove away waving in my rear view mirror. Weirdly, the whole weekend actually made me more homesick than ever, but it was lovely to have a fix of girly gossip and fun to keep me going. C & R, you are the most wonderful friends and it was lovely to see you. Come again soon. Mwah x

Hurrah! After wracking my bloody brain sitting here in this internet cafe surrounded by twelve year olds, I finally remembered my login details and HERE I AM!! Firstly, apologies to all my lovely readers who have logged in loyally every day only to find nothing new. Well, where do I start? Firstly, we’ve moved, but there are major problems with the house. It was a new house but has sat empty for several months and there are masses of things wrong - some that we can live with, like the fact that only one bathroom is actually plumbed in, and some that we can’t, like the fact that there’s no phone line or, subsequently, internet access! Hence, my slightly furtive position here in the corner of this teenage hangout where I am the oldest by..ooh..thirty years at least!!

Anyhoo, it’s lovely to be back, loyal readerage, and hopefully I’ll be able to nip along here occasionally to fill you in with all the stuff I can remember so that you don’t disappear and read other blogs instead!

Right, I’ve got an hour so I’d better get going….
